recallmeds

After finally getting product back on the shelves after the shortage before Christmas, Novartis has issued a recall on a number of Buckleys, Triaminic, Neo Citran and Jack & Jill products for coughs, colds and flu.

The products are safe to take, but if you have children in your home, the child proof mechanism on the cap may be faulty allowing children to open the bottles.  For recall information, consumers can contact Novartis Consumer Health Canada Inc. at 1-888-788-8181 (available 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. EST).

WHAT Buckley’s? Where’s my Buckley’s? We’ve tried other brands which simply upset the stomach and don’t work. And parents needs to stop giving children bottles to open every time they (parents) can’t get them opened. 😉

  2. Barbara says:

Agreed, I have bronchitis and ONLY buckley’s will do. What about us people without kids! Ever think about hiding the medication AWAY from the kids so they can’t get at it.

  3. andra says:

Agreed. We haven’t been able to find Buckleys since way before Christmas. Anybody know when we will get it back?

I have a bottle of Buckley’s Complete. Here is what they want you to do:

Notice that they introduce a liability not your home and then ask you to be inconvenienced 8-12 weeks waiting for them to look at the product. Don’t bother calling in since they will just tell you wha the website already says. They even lost my info in the call since their system has a “glitch”. I spoke with a supervisor who just said the same textbook answer as the customer service agent: “it is a voluntary recall and we have to follow protocol”.

Hopefully I can return it to the store I bought t at.

Thanks for the update Mike, sending the actual product means people paying parcel costs – so we have to pay expensive postage and wait 3months?

  5. Mike says:

Yep, they will reimburse you the cost of shipping bt again you are out of pocket up front for 3 months plus the cost of your time to do the leg work. PLUS, the fact that you are inconvenienced being without the product during the winter season.

I spent 20 min on the phone and had little resolution. Even thoug they asked for all my information, the still told me I had to fill out a form and mail it in with the product which is real silly and a waste of more of my time.

I tried to spin the cap on my bottle and it came off very easily. I know that child proof cas are really child “resistant” but this provides very little prevention which clearly necessitates a recall IMHO. I am concerned since I have a child under 2 and even though we watch her and keep things like this out of site, you can never be too careful. I told them they introduced a liability into my house and I would be happy to dump it out if they sent me a replacement coupon in the mail, then send the empty bottle in at a later date if they wished. I even offered to email a photo of the bottle with the lot # and DIN code to prove that my item is affected That way I wouldn’t be as inconvenienced for their issue. Still, they said they have “protocol” and needed me to follow it if I wanted a replacement.

Ok, really. I can’t help this. Be a PARENT and put the bottle up away from where your child could possibly get it. I’m a mother AND I ran home daycare. It’s not hard to prevent children from getting these items. You go to your kitchen, get a chair, get up on it and put it up where YOU can reach it with the chair. WOW! That’s hard!

    “Here’s your sign”

Been rationing my last bottle of this stuff but almost out… This is the only thing that helps me breath and allows me to sleep. If anyone has any and wants to sell let me know. I will pay top dollar.

really, what child on this planet would voluntarily drink the buckley’s once he got the cap open? I was shocked when I went to get some yesterday and found out it was recalled. I thought maybe they got caught filtering vicks through dirty socks.

  9. Suzy says:

I’m a parent and my child does not run the house, I do. Parents let their children get away with murder and then blame the consumer for their lack of brains. Wake up paents, start taking control of your children.
