Sears Canada has given me  4 tickets to give away to Smart Canucks readers to attend a Fashion Week Event on March 31 2010!

How do you enter? Simply be available to attend The LG Fashion Show Event and be  in the Toronto area on March 31 2010. You also must be at least 18 to enter. I am going to post an “outfit” from Sears.ca each day and I want you to tell me if its a hit or miss, and if it’s a miss what you’d do to make it a hit (using Sears.ca clothing. )  Your responses will be your entry. On March 29th at 8pm I will draw 2 random winners to win a set (2) tickets each.

Remember please DO NOT enter unless you would be available to attend the event.

My Spring pick today is:  A Career 4 piece suit, paired with Rockport Leather Pumps with this cute David Jones Satchel

Wearing all pieces of the suit is a MISS! The look is a bit old and it’s just too heavy. Instead, pair suit skirt with this blouse:
    http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-printed-blouse-with-tie-front-in-black-white-print/7950041?ptag=1

Black is boring! Add a punch of colour in your accessories with this wine red purse:
    http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-hobo-handbag/A000335862884102Y3?ptag=1

For a younger look, try these booties:

  2. poohbear2973

Yes, this is pretty much a hit.
However, I would have chosen BCBG® ‘Kosty’ Leather Pump shoes instead. Also, maybe shorten the hem of the skirt a teensy bit.

  3. ~IamJ~

Sorry, it’s a miss for me.

1.Lose the bottom of the career 4 piece suit in blue and replace with Kensie Ruffle print dress.
    http://www.sears.ca/product/kensie-ruffle-print-dress/4896096?ptag=1

2.Roll up the sleeves of the suit jacket and wear it open

3.Trash the shoes and replace with Nine West t-strap sandals
    http://www.sears.ca/product/nine-west-t-strap-sandals/A000360620546113Y8/event-6852

    4.Add 3 J.Lo silver bracelets
    http://www.sears.ca/product/j-lo-multi-bangle/03965720?ptag=1

Love fashion week. Always have a fun time when I go!

  4. AK

It’s a hit for work! Add a bit of color and you’re good to go!

  5. 2daughters

I don’t agree, this looks like an odd outfit — what is under the jacket? The Tradition Md 4 piece set from Sear is nicer.

  6. Daria

This is a hit! It would be a great outfit to wear to work (I work in an office environment).

  7. chatterbox

I think it’s a hit. Maybe some Jessica Mary-jane Style Platform Pumps instead!

  8. Samm Shitzel

this outfitt is a bit of both a hit and miss.
i find the shoes ok and work appropriate, but i find the suit quite outdated and not flattering. it is unappealing for several reasons; firstly the colours are lacking, secondly the scarf adds a strange look, almost reminds me of a plane stewardness, lastly i find the suit lacks femininity. however the bags ok.

  9. Elizabeth Blaze

I think it’s a miss unless you’re trying to dress a 60 year old lady for a funeral. The suit’s OK if you get rid of the horrible blouse and replace it with white or even a bold colour — like the Jessica Weekend(TM/MC) Stretch Shirt in red. Then pair it with a purse that has some “zing”, like the Cherry Berry™ Vegan ‘Leather’ ‘Snakeskin’ Shoulder Bag and some sexier shoes. Something like the Jessica®/MD Slip-on Style Platform Pumps.

  10. SarahG

Unfortunately I think it’s a miss, however I have selected the Black Stretch Wardrobe Makers ($69.99), Attitude®/MD Flannel Twill Pant in Castle Rock Grey ($49.99), Attitude®/MD Orgami Sleeve Detail Blouse ($34.99) and the Bandolino® ‘Berry’ Pumps ($89.99).

  11. mimij

A hit for the outfit but the bag could use a bit of color! Too much black!

  12. ci ci fan

Hit! But maybe try Jessica®/MD Dressy T-strap Style Shoes ($44.99) for shoes instead! :)

  13. Mary

It’s a hit with the following changes:

The suit is great for work, but the skirt should be shorter. The shoes are fine for walking to and from work and at lunch hour for errands, but heels would be better during work hours such as these: http://www.sears.ca/product/hush-puppies-soft-style-ankle-strap-pumps/5460658S/event-6852

The purse is fine for use walking to and from work and at lunch hour for errands, but during office hours you shouldn’t be carrying it around.

Also, the following blouse should replace the scarf to give more colour in either the blue or fuschia: http://www.sears.ca/product/jessica-md-matte-satin-blouse/A000349273725095Y2?ptag=1

  14. glitter99

I’d say hit for bottoms (pants and skirt) but miss for the jacket. Too much of one colour. I’d ditch the jackets and wear a top like this instead with the bottoms: the Attitude®/MD Orgami Sleeve Detail Blouse

  15. christina

Suite it self… is a Miss. However, a few changes can make it a Hit! Add these shoes in black http://www.sears.ca/product/bcbg-leather-fashion-peep-toe-pump/A000348314546079Y0?ptag=1
    and this purse http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-woven-hobo-handbag/A000331405884103Y2?ptag=1
and remove whatever is under it (aka HORRIBLE) and add this crisp white RELAXED looking white button up “boyfriend shirt and leave the blazer OPEN! Now someone can wear that SUIT! Thanks :)

  16. Fiona

Sorry but this one’s a miss for me
The suit ensemble is a tad too much and the navy one reminds me a lot like and airline hostesses, which is not a look that I myself would wear. Although the suit could have been amended for the shoes did not accomplish this. They look dated and dull, I would go for something more modern.
    The bag is acceptable.

  17. grumpy

Nice choices! But to really punch it up, add these elements to the brown suit to look like you’re workin’ the runway…

    1) Bring some attention! Attitude®/MD Braided Straw Fedora with Black Patent Band in Natural http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-md-braided-straw-fedora-with-black-patent-band/8842098S?ptag=1

    2) Move the scarf to the purse! Tie it on the end where the straps attach to the bag for a flirty hint of colour on the smart looking bag. This would also open up the neck line for some bare decolletage and/or some jewelry. But also bring the attention to the mysterious face under the hat!

    3) To add some shape, buy 2 or 3 of these necklaces and chain them together as a belt! Attitude®/MD Gold Status Links Necklace
    http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-md-gold-status-links-necklace/03615470?ptag=1

    4) To tie it all together, a taller shoe with some spunk in animal skin — it has the same colour as the fedora and the gold chain. Not too much, just a little to peek out from under the sleek pants and to make everyone hear you coming! BCBG® Leather Fashion Peep-toe Pump
    http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-md-braided-straw-fedora-with-black-patent-band/8842098S?ptag=1

What a great contest. Thanks for holding it. I really hope to go as I’ve never been able to attend such an event! It would be so cool!

  18. scarletdiva

i like both suits with the scarves, i don’t personally work in an office environment, but if i did, i would wear the skirt. i would change the shoes and bag though, go with something to bring a younger vibe to the whole outfit.

awesome contest! would be so much fun!

  19. meguwo

*Sorry for the TEST I cannot get my post to POST! Maybe its the links to the products?? I will take out the links! I have spent the last 45 minutes on this!!!! LOL*

OMG I would love to win this!!!!!!! Ahhh.…. I have never been to Fashion Week and I have always wanted to go!!

Ok.… the outfit depends. I am 24 and I wouldn’t wear it. Although, I think it is cute and practical for someone 40 or older. I love the Rockport brand, but the shoes are VERY ugly. (I bet you they are comfy though!) The bag is ok.… I mean its not awful, but its so predictable! A hobo satchel will never really be out of style, but be creative!!! I love over-sized bags though especially for work!

For me, I would wear something like a nice classic black high waist pant with a white ruffled feminine blouse. A classic grey handbag with some sort of pump bootie (peep toe for summer!) Add the colour with the Jacket! Blow them away with a hot orange classic trench– that you can remove so you aren’t the centre of attention during meetings.

If I had a job where I was walking or standing a lot I would probably switch out the shoes for a classic ballet type flat like the Fergie ones!

Top: Attitude Removable Bow Blouse with Pleats (White) $39.99
Pants: Attitude High wait wide leg trousers (Black) $79.99
Shoes: Attitude Fashion Booties (Black) $79.99
Bag: Della Designed Valerie Tote (Slate Grey) $199.99
Jacket: Kensie Cotton Side Zip Coat (Orange)$128.00
Scarf: Attitude Gauze Scarf with Sheer Stripe and Fringes (Purple) $25.00
Accessories: I wouldn’t do a necklace with this top– therefore you can go all out on a chunky ring and bracelet or bangle–
Ring: Attitude Cocktail Ring $25.00 (Wear it on your right index finger!)
    Bangle: J.LO Silvertone Wide-link Stretch Bracelet $28.00
Earrings: Jessica Black Diamond Accent Earrings in 10k White Gold $259.00

So in the end I love high fashion looks at affordable prices. I love basic colours in the office (Black, grey, white) but punch it up with a bold jacket or scarf. I love chunky jewelry, but don’t do a chunky necklace, bracelet, earrings and rings– its too much!

This was a great idea because I discovered a few brands I had NO CLUE SEARS CARRIED!?! Such as Kensie (my FAVE!!!!) and BCBG :) I also love the Attitude line– designer inspired for GREAT prices!

Kensie is an amazing product, I usually buy it at The Bay, but now I will have to check out Sears! Does anyone know if Sears carries these lines in store? I know the London, Ontario Sears is a lot different than the GTA Sears.… clearly older women shop at the London stores because the only “younger” lines they carry to my knowledge is like Nevada and Jessica???

Are you using Random to pick the winner? Or the person with the best looks?? I love picking out outfits! I could have put 100 together! LOL!

    I hope this posts!!!!

  20. Tiffany

    Hello!

IMO this is a miss, even for work for lady in her twenties. Firstly, the fit looks a tad dated. For the sake of this contest, I’m assuming we’re just changing some of the choices.. so I’m going to TRY to keep two items!

    1) Let’s keep the blazer, but roll up the sleeves and leave it unbuttoned for a more casual yet stylish feel.

    2) Let’s get rid of the scarf!

    3) Pair up the blazer with a beautiful blouse to add a bunch of colour. I would choose this in the peacock green:
    http://www.sears.ca/product/jessica-md-short-sleeve-pindot-blouse/7250124S?ptag=1

    4) Let’s say no the matching pants / skirt and replace it with a nice dark wash denim, so maintain a a professional look.
    http://www.sears.ca/product/calvin-klein-lean-bootcut-jeans-in-rustic/1911489?ptag=1

    5) Let’s get rid of the shoes.. and find a beautiful pair of sandals, esp with spring here! It’s a gorgeous neutral bronze with some jeweled details at the front that would go with any outfit.
    http://www.sears.ca/product/bandolino-fashion-jewelled-sandals/A000348309546112Y7?ptag=1

    6) Let’s keep the handbag as my second item “to be kept”.

I would wear this outfit! =)

  21. Robin

I think that the outfit could use some spicing up. A nice pop of teal or aquamarine blue as a blouse and definately shorten the skirt to just above the knee and shoes that are a bit less clunky!

  22. Onlybluemomma

I would lose the scarf and add one of these bags for some funkyness but that’s just me.
    Jessica®/MD Crocodile Print Handbag

  23. Veronica

It’s a miss for me. I think for Spring, dresses are nicer. I would go with the Black and White Polka dot Attitue origami fold dress:
    http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-md-belted-orgami-fold-dress-with-belt/A000361571796700Y6?ptag=1
With the Black Stretch blazer from Wardrobe makers:

    http://www.sears.ca/product/black-stretch-blazer-wardrobe-makers/4196204?ptag=1

Bandolino slingblack peep toe in red for shoes

    http://www.sears.ca/product/bandolino-ramses-dress-slingback-peep-toe-wedges/A000354261545899Y5?ptag=1

    and the buffalo satchel handbag

    http://www.sears.ca/product/buffalo-satchel-handbag/88206590?ptag=1

    Hope to win. Great contest!

  24. tink42

I think it is basically a hit although I don’t think I would pair those shoes with it — I am not a big fan of them.

  25. Emilio

    Hi

It is a hit but I would chose a pair of pumps rather than flats to spice it up.

  26. Jordan

I think that the pant version is too much but the dress version works well.
the pant/suit is too old fashioned and dated. the dress versions lightens it up and lets you wear the dressier top without looking too uptight.
    I like the purse myself.

    yay Fashion week! ha

  27. Debbie Buckingham

This is a hit with the right colors. change the shoes to red and the purse…then a bright red scarf or something with color and you are good to go for an office.

  28. atomikgurl

Sadly this is a MISS for me.

Here are my suggestions for a more youthful springtime outfit:

    Fresh Gingham Blouse
    http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-md-long-sleeve-bias-gingham-blouse/7950030?ptag=1

    Funky Statement Necklace
    http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-md-black-2-row-baubles-necklace/030361800?campaign=rr

    Neutral Pencil Skirt
    http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-md-pencil-skirt/7960013S?ptag=1

    Taupe Hobo Handbag
    http://www.sears.ca/product/attitude-md-hobo-handbag/A000341210884105Y3?ptag=1

    Rocker-Chic Heels
    http://www.sears.ca/product/womens-harley-davidson-upfront-dress-style-sandals-with-ankle-straps/543061183?campaign=rr

  29. Jessica

If this outfit was for the office then I think it is a HIT because the shoes are practical to wear in (not ridiculous heels) and the outfit and bag is business forward.

  30. Caroline

    Hi there,

Being in the corporate world, i can understand your choice of the suit and the purse as it pulls together well but the shoes are a sure fire miss for me. They are really dated and almost look like they are orthopedic…i know not everyone can wear a high heel but that does not mean that you are forced to wear shoes that are the ones our Mom’s used to wear ( she is 81 )!! Hopefully my honesty doesn’t hurt my chances for the tickets!!!

  31. Aprile

That is definitely a hit! It is sleek and coordinates well with the accessories. Simple make-up and a high ponytail would make this outfit a total smash at the office!

  32. melissa

That is a miss! It looks like an outfit a flight attendant would have worn in the 70’s. Lose the blue blazer and replace it with Attitude®/MD Turtleneck with Bottom Detail instead. Change the shoes to BCBG® Leather Fashion Strappy Sandals
for a less “matchy matchy” look.

  33. Lindy

This outfit is definitely a hit for work but you do need to add some colour to it. Wear a nice bright blouse or a patterned one. As well, a nice patterned scarf would go nicely. I like the bag and the shoes are not to bad either.

  34. Awww Nuts

The suit is ok but I hate the shoes. I would have gone for the Steve Madden(MD) Patent Leather Fashion Pump.

  35. lyssa

Hit, for middle aged working woman, comfort (shoes) and style (outfit + handbag)

  36. Rebecca

It’s pretty basic suit but I think a more fashion forward pair of shoes and purse will make it a hit!

  37. vicki

Can be a hit if you do this:

Change the pumps to Steve Madden(MD) Patent Leather Fashion Pump.
    Jacket: Flash Lights(TM/MC) Pinstripe Blazer
Shorten the skirt or the pants are good.
and add this bracelet: Attitude®/MD Black 3 Row Bauble Bracelet

  38. SusanC

I would say this is a hit because you can wear it to work, probably even an interview (all in an office environment).

  39. Kay

It is a hit, but I would change the shoes and go with Attitude®/MD High-fashion Round-toe Platforms to have some discreet fun.

  40. Sarasota Pet Sitting

Hi there, just become alert to your blog thru Google, and located that it’s truly informative. I’m gonna watch out for brussels. I’ll be grateful in the event you continue this in future. Numerous other folks might be benefited out of your writing. Cheers!
