Great news! I prefer their teas but I’m going to try the peppermint mocha this weekend! And quite possibly the frappacino too :)

  3. Mamaelmo

I’m defently going this weekend, gonna get my bf to try starbucks finally

  4. Barista

You can go to any store in Canada and no coupon is required!

With regards to the coffee taste, all of these lattes are sweetened and can therefore tone down the coffee taste. If you want more coffee flavour and less sweetness, you can get any beverage half sweet or have an additional espresso shot added.

    Enjoy your Starbucks!

omg..awesome!!! one of my fav drinks (pepper hot chocolate). just hope I remember!! :)

  6. Lindsay

the caramel brule late is DELICIOUS!!
its like a caramel machiatto but not oversweet!
im so excited for this promo! :)

  7. Keryn

I’ve noticed that American drinks tend to be on the sweet side & their food can be rather salty.

@Barista ~ Thanks for the tip about getting it 1/2 sweetened, as for the extra expresso shot I’m pretty sure that would cost extra just not sure how much StarBucks charges for an extra shot lol. I usually ask for a doppio at non-franchise/indie cafes.

In a related posting, Goodlife Fitness Open House: Nov. 15 — 21, 2010

    Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Grande
    Calories 540
    Total Fat 19g
    Cholesterol 50mg
    Total Carbohydrate 80g
    Sugars 76g

These things aren’t drinks, there meals. More like fat in a cup.

  9. FunkyMunky

^ way to be Debby Downer!!

just ask for skim milk and maybe no whip :P

  10. Talulah

    Thank you, Bytown!
I was thinking about it, but 540 calories and 19 grams of fat? That’s ridiculous! And kinda gross.

  11. bettythecanadianmenno

Hey thanks, Bytown… I had no idea it was that bad. I do realize that it’s a treat, and not a daily type of drink. In the past few months, when I DO indulge in Starbucks, I have been choosing a Tall instead of Grande, and have switched to non-fat milk. I either get no whip, or light whip, if I absolutely have to have it.
Do you know the info for those choices, as well ?? I want to know if that is making a significant difference, or if I’m just fooling myself ! Haha

  12. Starwhat?

Starbucks is overpriced and fatty. Shave the pounds and save the wallet… the holidays are coming people!

  13. Jenn

The Starbucks website has a good nutritional calculator that lets you choose what kind of milk, whip/no whip, etc. for any drink and calculates how many calories it’ll be. None of the holidays drinks are particularly good for you, but if you go for a tall, half-sweet, no whip drink it’s not that bad. Definitely stay away from the snacks, though. They’re delish, but you might as well eat a pound of butter rolled in sugar. :P

I tried to get my 2 for’s at a Starbucks today and the gal looked at me like I was nuts…

Mind you it was in a hotel in Niagara Falls.

  15. Laura.

I was told today that we could only get hot drinks for the promotion, no cold ones, because we were in Canada. As a result, we walked out. Anyone else encounter this?

  16. Barista

Keryn… you *should* be able to get an extra shot added to your beverage and have it qualify so long as it is one of the Holiday Beverages. The barista would charge for the more expensive beverage and the second would be free.
With regards to calories and nutritionals, Jenn made a good point about the starbucks.com website http://www.starbucks.com/menu/catalog/nutrition?drink=all#view_control=nutrition. With all things, there are choices to be made and some are better than others. There is definitely a way to adjust the drinks to be nutritionally sound.

The Niagara Falls stores do not generally participate in corporate special events.

Laura, do you mind sharing which store you went into?

  17. Laura.

It was the Starbucks in Pickering at Liverpool and Kingston Rd.

I wanted to get one hot drink and one cold drink (a caramel brule frappuccino). It really made no sense to me because the price difference between the latte and the frap was only 5 cents.

The baristas told me that the cold drinks were only available as part of the promotion in the U.S. and I couldn’t get it because we were in Canada. I told them that it said online that it was part of the promotion, but they still said no. I went back and looked again at Starbucks’s web site, and it definitely does not indicate there is any difference in the drinks allowed (including the frappuccino) between the U.S. and Canada.

Are there any other locations in the GTA that are honouring the full promo?

  18. Barista

Laura– sorry that you had that experience. All the holiday beverages should be offered/granted during this event (no matter if they are hot or cold). All GTA corporate locations should be honouring the promo as such. Stores that will likely not (but may) participate are those that are located within hotels, hospitals (with a few exceptions), universities and airports.
Hope this helps! At least you have one more day to try :o )
