Things I never thought I’d see again… gas prices under a dollar

I was out for a walk last night when I saw something I honestly never thought I would see again in Canada — gas under $1.

It’s been a few years since I’ve owned a car, but as a concerned former motorist I’ve tried to stay as aware of current gas conditions as I can. And while I know things have been going down, I never in a million years would have expected it to be under a dollar. But there it is — 99.7.

It’s not just an anomaly either — the Esso down the block was at 99.9. Now maybe if we all wish hard enough we can magically transport back to the days of 62.5.

Sorry about the poor picture quality — that’s what a cheap cellphone in the middle of the night will get you. How are gas prices in your neck of the woods?

I live in Nova Scotia… we are down to 103.8! Which is pretty good considering what its been… I’ll be happier when I see it under a 1.00 as well!

It is true that gas prices are much lower now (it should be even lower given the circumstances), but look at the economy. People have lost a lot of money in the stock market and a lot of people are their losing jobs (i.e. auto plants). I’m not celebrating.

  22. nsangel says:

still 1.02 here in lower sackville, ns.

  23. mom4boys says:

Check out Ontario gas prices.com It will tell you where the cheapest gas is especially if you happen to be travelling.

  24. Wild says:

    89.9 this morning in Ottawa

  25. Ben says:

    99,4 in Gatineau (QC)

However, it’s the cheapest area you can buy on Quebec side. Most areas (except Outaouais) goes around 108.

89.9 in Ottawa this morning???? OMG! I never thought I would ever hear of the gas dropping that low ever again. Here in Sturgeon Falls it was 103.6 last night….which is a huge drop as it was up to 1.45 not too long ago. I still don’t understand why our gas prices here are still up to .10/l higher then other places like Ottawa. The highway literally runs right through our town and the trucks have to go right through here to deliver the gas so you would think it would be cheaper? Guess I don’t understand how they base these things.

  27. vibrantflame says:

Might I add though that while it is nice to see the gas drop down again, it is also kind of scary because of the way the economy is going. Thankfully I haven’t been affected yet, but I know a lot of people have and it’s sad.

  28. Toule911 says:

    107 in Quebec City 🙁

  29. Tom says:

I drove from Ottawa to Sudbury this weekend, Ottawa < $1, Sudbury and North Bay, etc.. pretty much anywhere past Arnprior was still around $1.05. Big disconnect!

  30. Olena says:

We filled up at 103 last night, Port Moody BC.

  31. Winnie says:

Driving through Carlton place (just outside ottawa) this morning and gas was 89.1. It seems like Ottawa might be the lowest in the country?

  32. amycanada77 says:
