On Saturday October 6, 2007 (and some stores start onFriday) get 20X the optimum points when you spend $50 or more at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Usually $1 = 10 optimum points but on 20x days $1 = 200 optimum points.
Just for your information, a lot of Shoppers sell iPods, XBoxs, Playstations and Nintendo consoles. Let’s say you’d like to purchase the new Apple 8GB iPod Nano for $219.99:
You get $219 x 200 points = 43,800 optimum points!

Yes folks! 43,000 points is worth more than $75 of free Shopping at Shoppers Drug Mart. Buying consoles, mp3 players and digital cameras on Shoopers 20x days is still one of the best ways of saving. Note that not all Shoppers sell electronics although most of them now do. Also make sure you go nice and early before the hot items run out of stock.

I do a lot of shopping at SDM when they have the 20X event. The shoppers at Market Mall in Calgary sells a lot of high end cosmetics (Dior, Lancome, etc.), so it’s better to grab your luxury cosmetics at SDM rather than The Bay or Sephora…
I spent $200 and received 40,000 points and then the very next day they had a redemption special ($100 free, instead of $75) and I used it on more Dior products-but for FREE!
20X points effectively translates into a 30% discount on EVERYTHING. Makes sense when there is already a discount on the item you want to buy but doesn’t make much sense if there is no discount. Example: You have to pay $39.99 for a 2GB SD card in SDM which is available at Futureshop for $29.99. With GST and PST the difference is $11.50! With the 8000 bonus points you get you could buy $10 worth of merchandise + 1000 points left over but by buying at Futureshop you save $11.50 right away.
