Do all of these cards have an activation fee?
Bought the restaurant ones before and they had no fees
None of them have an activation fee.
The only card I’ve seen with an activation fee at SDM are the Mastercard gift cards.
I just checked their flyer and this offer doesn’t appear to be listed (nor on their website). Is there a list of participating cards, or is it just any gift card they sell (incluiding their own SDM cards)?
Is this offer available in the SDM branches of Quebec?
From what I know the offer is only good on the listed gift cards and only for this week.

Can I pay for an ESSO giftcard with a SDM giftcard?
Yes, you can buy gift cards with SDM gift cards. Buy a $75 SDM card, get 750 points. Then buy Esso card for another 7,000 points. Total: 7,750 for gas you had to buy anyway….
My question is: Can you do this more than once? If I buy $150 in Esso, will I get 14,000 points? I would do this in two separate $75 transactions of course. thanks

In order to receive your 7,000 bonus optimum points you must put them on separate transactions.
we have 2 optimum cards in our house. we both go thru and later i just add the pts from one to the other card. saves fooling around.

To answers all the questions:
– yes you can pay using SDM gift cards and get extra points that way (I did it)
– yes you can do this multiple times using multiple transactions with the same optimum card (I did it)
– yes the 7000 points show up immediately on the receipt (did for me + others)
– yes you even get more REGULAR points on the gift card purchase so it turns out to be 7000 + 750 (SDM gift card reg points) + 750 (reg points on Esso, iTunes,etc gift card) for a total of 8500 points for spending $75.
– yes you will get more SDM points by using your SDM mastercard to make the purchase or whatever rewards points you get on your credit card.
– YES, this is the best deal on gas you will see in a long time.
– Yes, you can even use the Esso gift cards you buy and go to the Esso station and buy HomeDepot gift cards with them and renovate your house 🙂
WARNINGS:
– individual stores my try to enforce their own policies and prevent you from doing any number of the above things. A call to head office (or threatening to do so) should resolve the problem. You can also ask to speak to a manager.
– The converting Esso hard to HomeDepot or other gift cards that Esso sells is a big YMMV. There are reports of people doing it, but apparently many stations/cashiers will give you a hard time for this.
