The raclette is designed to be a social eating experience, similar to the ones you may have encountered at a tapas bar or a fondue party, but instead of dipping fruit and veggies in a pot of melted cheese you instead grill your chosen sides underneath the raclette and (as is traditionally done in some regions) you melt cheese on top.
The sides that you choose to grill can vary, but the most common kinds that you would see used for this type of dining experience would include:
