If you’re not a daily rice eater, I.e Asian, then you may not understand the importance of a good rice cooker. Boiling rice in a simple pot doesn’t give it the same taste and texture of a good rice cooker that produces enough steam to make the rice tasty. $78 for a Tiger brand rice cooker is a good deal as they normally sell for over $100+.
Kimmie is right, rice cooker and hot water thermal is essential for Asian, it’s like a toaster for north American. The newer, more advanced rice cooker are multi-functioning, from cooking rice, porridge, to steam, even slow cooker function.
