Amazon.com: Kindle Reader from $79

Canadian Deals & Coupons

Since it is being offered by Amazon.com, this is not a super deal, but I thought I should mention it anyway as I know many of you do order things from the US.

(I just checked Amazon.ca and the Kindle starts at $109 on there!)

Right now, if you’re willing to put up with those free ads, you can get a Kindle for $79. Special offers & sponsored screensavers are displayed on the screen when you’re not reading. And of course, this edition is only available in the US. Click here if you wanna check out this “special”.

Would you save $30, only to put up with pop-ups?

Oh, that’s a horrid idea. Why would I pay money for a portable advertising machine?

I got my kindle days before this announcement was made- I don’t think you’d even notice the screen savers. I have mine in a protective case, so I wouldn’t. Oh, and the other thing? That kindle has half the storage space of a regular kindle.

It’s not a advertising machine. Ads on the bottom, so you don’t even notice. And sometimes it even gives you coupons.

You actually cannot order the Kindle with “special offers” to be shipped to Canada. I just double checked to make sure, and it says it’s not shippable here. The only one you can order is the regular one for 109$, the same price both on amazon.ca and amazon.com.

Yeah Im sure you cant order the ones with “Special Offers” to be shipped to canada.

I wouldn’t order a Kindle to begin with just because it is so restrictive with the formats you can read on it & I’m too lazy to covert them in Calibre!

Having worked where a Kobo is sold at the Kindle is nowhere as good as the Kobo. With the Kindle you can only order the ebooks off the Kindle site and nowhere else. With the Kobo you can order from any site and also use your local library site too. Much better!!!

I actually went on a cruise this summer that had some stops in the U.S.A. I already scouted out some store beforehand and bought a Kindle 3G with special offers (less than $150 after taxes). Special offers is actually a plus because of the coupons and promos IMO.

@Tracy – I don’t know how you think that the Kindle is restrictive in its formats. If you check ereader comparisons, it will accept the most formats of any other ereader on the market (the only one it doesn’t is epub). And most books I download are in pdf format anyways, which the Kindle accepts. And as for converting, Amazon will do it for you when you send the file to your Kindle via email, so you don’t have to do it yourself. I love my Kindle.

I think that Kindle is ugly and wouldn’t buy it, it really has nothing to do with the ads. If it looked more like my kindle and there were ads I might consider buying it. If it was pop up ads I would never buy it but if it was ads when you put the kindle to sleep that wouldn’t bother me. It makes no difference so long as nothing is interupting my reading! I really like my Kindle 3G with the keyboard. My mom has a kobo and I don’t like it half as much as my Kindle. I paid over $200 with shipping and it was worth every penny.

oh yes I’d buy it!! and if I dont get it for xmas, I’m buying it for myself. the special offers are awesome, (50% off any grocery item?!? yes please!!) plus I have an american shipping addy so that makes it even easier to take advantage of the amazon coupons. I do a lot of shopping on amazon, hehe.
