In a world where Eating Disorders are quickly on the rise, and have the most deaths of any Mental Health disorder, I find it disturbing that we are still seeing pictures like the one above. I have no issue with the two women on the outside, or the male, however I don’t agree with the one who is so clearly showing her ribs. What messages are we sending our children, teens and young adults?
Stephania please do not think I’m blaming you for selecting this picture, I’m not, I’m upset that a company would use this picture and that a lot of our society has come to see this as normal. Could you please tell me if it is a picture from American Apparel or just one that was found on the internet. Thanks

Even though models today are creating a bad stereotype image for what a healthy body looks like, I would encourage you to check out some of the models they use at AA – there’s quite a variety. Even though I also do not enjoy seeing bones in a picture portraying attractiveness, I do admire American Apparel for using a variety of models who are beautiful in their own way and natural – no obvious photoshopping to make their skin look flawless and very minimal and natural makeup. I can see some women’s underarm hair shadow – definitely not the norm.
