Do you have an iPhone 5? If you do and the battery life isn’t up to par – you may be eligible for Apple’s current replacement program! As of August 29, 2014, Apple is starting to replace he battery of some iPhone 5’s due to a sudden experience in shorter battery life. The devices were sold between September 2012 and January 2013.
If your phone is eligible, you will need to do the following:
- Back up your data to iTunes/iCloud
- Turn off Find my iPhone
- Erase data and settings (This can be done by Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings)
Click here to check your serial number in order to see if your phone qualifies.
I keep getting an error when I try submitting my serial number. Anyone else having this problem?
I have no problem entering my serial number
I didn’t have an issue either
Apple “We don’t do recalls…’cause our products are perfect they way we build them!… We do PROMOTIONS!! WOOHOO!”
MOUAHAHAHAHAHAH!!
@Freefinger: I assume you are being sarcastic… Apple are calling it a replacement program. Smart Canucks are the ones calling it a promotion… which it is not.
@Shane: Try again. I got the error a few times as well.
Mine was replaced yesterday at an Apple Store. You might want to wait until next week – Canada doesn’t seem to be fully rolled out yet in-store. They replaced mine because it failed the diagnostic… they knew of the program but their systems didn’t seem to be setup yet unless your phone fails the diagnostic (serial # didn’t matter).
