Ask Prue7979 anything about Rogers Retail

Rogers Canada

Prue7979 works at Rogers Retail and she has kindly volunteered to answer questions we have about Rogers 🙂

If you want to ask her a question about Rogers please post it in the forum.

Hello fellow Smart Canucks!

Well this was another great idea from Boo! As I am sure some of you already know from previous posts I have made, I work for Rogers retail. I actually began selling Rogers about 11 years ago while working for Radio Shack which is an affiliate of Rogers. Then about 5 years ago when I decided to return to university I switched from the Radio Shack to the Rogers side of the company (the parent company of RS owned 800+ Rogers stores as well) and I have been dealing exclusively with Rogers products and services ever since.

The purpose of this ‘ask me anything’ thread is provide you with a place where you can ask me anything you may want to know about Rogers. Feel free to ask me anything pertaining to Rogers, and I will give you an answer. If by chance your question is something I don’t know the answer to, I will do my best to find an accurate answer for you within a couple of days.

Also, from time to time we hear about deals customers receive which are not offered unless you specifically call in, and I will post these here whenever I come across one

If you want to ask her a question about Rogers please post it in the forum.

Ew, ew, pick me, pick me…

OK one question, why does the company suck so much?

OK, perhaps suck is too strong a word, but I will include at least one Rogers related story in the new Canadian Shopping Discussion forum…

    Hi,

    I’m sorry, & I know I don’t post a lot, but I don’t like this idea.

Unless Rogers is sponsoring this site (which I hope it’s not), I don’t like the idea of a Rogers employee answering company related questions here. I’m sure I have no right to say that, & to be honest I do have several gripes with the company, but I would feel this way as well if it were a company I liked. I come here for information in general, tips from customers… not what could be construed as propaganda.

And Prue7979, I apologize if that’s offensive to you, it certainly has nothing to do with you.

Rogers has nothing to do with SmartCanucks.ca, they do not sponsor this website in any way. You can freely express your point of view on here about any company in a positive or negative way. I’m not getting paid by any company (only money i make is from the google ads) and I believe we have the right to express our experiences as customers.

The aim of this idea is to find out about good deals, hidden secrets or even things not related to deals such as… do Rogers employees get commission on sales?

It’s just a way of getting to know the company better from someone who actually knows the company well. To be honest I don’t see where the “propaganda” comes in?

    I don’t have a problem with it…

Rogers is only one company offering telecommunications solutions to Canadians, so there isn’t much to worry about.
I say you have two choices

You could take advantage of the offer to ask questions you might really want an answer to.

    Or

You can simply ignore the offer and go on about your regular bog and forum perusal.

Incidentally, Oread, I asked Boo Radley to start a new forum for me to gather stories of customer service experiences (both good and bad), for a book that I want to write on the subject. The forum is called Canadian Shopping Discussion, and I’d be happy if you took the time to write down your stories for us. I prefer if it sounds more like an anecdote, than an all out complaint, but if that is what you’d like to do, I’ll read it. Come on open up, share with me. If the forum goes the way I hope, then Rogers will eventually know your beef, and would learn how to change in response to provide better customer service.

Let’s celebrate the culture of choice and indifference.

Sorry again, I guess the word propaganda conjures up too much negativity even though I knew none was intended. I guess direct marketing is a better term. I just see it as different from the regular forum interaction.

This all sounds like good information: “The aim of this idea is to find out about good deals, hidden secrets or even things not related to deals such as… do Rogers employees get commission on sales?”. But, how much can an employee reveal without negatively affecting the company (in some instances, again not necessarily Rogers).

All said, I am over-reacting… this is not worth speaking up about. I love this site & check it regularly; I’m not much of the contributing type, but I value the community here. Sorry to jump like that.

    Docbosh:

Thanks for the offer, I may contribute there, although not regarding Rogers. My problem with them is not directly personal & I would be stepping on toes to relay the issues I know about.

    Hi Prue7979,
    I have a question!
Now with the changes in cell phone laws/rules, is it possible to use an older Rogers cell phone for my Telus number and vice versa?

  7. Boo Radley says:

oread, don’t worry about it at all. I truly appreciate the comments you leave every now and then. You’re one of the very first people to support my blog right after I started and for that I’ll always be grateful 🙂

deannatwinmom, i think prue7979 reads the forum section much more often. It’s a good idea to post your question there 🙂
