Blockbuster is offering a favourite rentals pass for $9.99 a month. You can rent as many favourites a month as you’d like (one at a time) for only $9.99. You can cancel anytime after the first month.  This is a great deal if you live near a Blockbuster or  feel like going on a movie binge!

Click here for more details. Also while your on the Blockbuster site sign up for the weekly Buzz newsletter and get a free popcorn!  This is definitely worth signing up for as they do release printable coupons quite often in the newsletter.

I think “favourites” means the older movies not the new releases. It’s still a good deal! Thanks Sally!

Yep, it is just for older movies. But, the selection is huge! I usually cruise the end displays since that’s where they often put the movies that have just moved from “new” to “old.”

Does anyone know when this promotion ends? I signed up for it a couple of weeks ago, but I’m wondering if I’ll be able to sign up for another month or two before it’s over…

What happens after the first month ..do they jack up the price or does the promotion get over in 2 – 3 months time ?

I think it maybe a long term thing. They have something like this for the video games but its $29.99 for a month for one game and 39.99 a month for 2 games, the video game promotion has been going on for a while now.

how has Blockbuster NOT gone out of business yet!?!?!?

  6. Melissa13 says:

It’s an okay deal if you live close to one. Taking only one out at a time is a drag if you have to travel a ways.

ooo I wonder if this applies to older TV shows (I think it should?). Boyfriend and I want to watch the Six Feet Under series. I should ask my friend who works at Blockbuster, lol.

This is obviously Blockbuster’s pre-emptive strike against NetFlix’s entry into Canada in a few months. Pricing appears very similar to that of the US, but with NetFlix being an online service, people may be more willing to rent through the Net rather than drive to a Blockbuster.

so we could have a movie out for a week and take out four movies a month then? We pass by a blockbuster once a week when we go for groceries. 4 favorites would still be a good deal I think considering the cost normally. thanks!!
