Blockbuster Canada Trade In Your Used Dvd’s Receive $4 Credit!

blockbuster_canada11

Blockbuster is offering a great trade in rate right now.  For each Dvd you bring in you will receive $4 store credit for it.  They have to be in good condition of course with the original case.  This is a fantastic trade in rate thats generally not offered.  This deal will not last long so if you have dvd’s to trade in I would do it ASAP.

LOL! I saw DVD’s in dollerama the other day… Just an idea if it works out to be a better deal..(I’m not going to be renting any movies.. I’ve finally broke the habit!!!!!!!!)

@Alee: That’s exactly what came to mind for me when I read this post. Are there any restrictions as to what DVDs will and will not be accepted? I imagine some of those ancient (and crummy) DVD movies at the dollar store shouldn’t be, but you never know.

  3. Patsy says:

The movie has to be in their system. And not a single scratch.

My local Blockbuster (Orleans On) said they have been doing this since the 90’s and on the trade agreement there were VHS tapes listed! They of course say they won’t accept those anymore.. but it is funny for them to have been offering such a great deal for so long and nobody knew!

  5. Laurie says:

Wow i never knew about this!! I live in Orleans ON as well… I will be dropping some dvds off tonite 🙂 😛

  6. Dayanara says:

I thought they stopped doing this. Good to know, I have a TON of DVDs to get rid of. Hopefully most of them are in their system.

Laurie- we went to the Blockbuster on Portobello(Orleans On) and they not only took in our movies, but the customer service was some of the best i have ever experienced since moving to Ontario! I am always impressed by that location.

I traded in a bunch of dvd’s last week for this deal. At the time they were allowing you to use the store credit to buy pre paid mastercards. As of Monday of last week they apparently got a memo saying not to allow that anymore. So, it’s not quite such a great deal anymore.

Awesome! Thanks for the info!! 🙂

They will take *some* movies from Dollarama. I had a Goosebumps movie I bought there, and they took it lol. There isn’t much they won’t take, even if there are some slight surface scratches, they’ll still take them, but that’s up to the discretion of the associate doing your transaction. It’s totally worth it right now because they have some great muti-buy deals on movies, and they also order for you, so if there’s something you can’t find that you want, ask. I don’t blame them for not selling pre-paid credit cards with the trade in $$$. Wal-Mart won’t let you buy them with a gift card either.

I called 2 locations today and they said that the DVDs may not give you $4.00 in credit. It depends on the movie. Some can be $1.00. You also have to sign up a special account. Only a good deal if you rent from them.

  12. T.M. says:

Brand new wii remote for movies I no longer watch. Yeah, baby! Please let us know when this happens again. Credit can be used for ANYTHING in the store (toys, food, new releases) except gift cards. This is in New Brunswick. I got $4 for all of my movies.

this worked out to be an awesome deal…25 movies traded in and I got a Blue ray free !!! I was going to donate most of the movies anyway as I purchased them from the same Blockbuster years ago (instead of renting back then I used to buy previously viewed movies for only a few $$`s more) forgot how expensive it used to be to rent + late fees (remember them).
Anyway,LG blueray was on sale for $99 so all I had to do was pay taxes 🙂

  14. tattoodprincess says:

my sister works at Blockbuster and she said you DON’T need a special account to trade in. They just adjust some info on your regular rental account. Yes, not all movies will guarantee you four dollars, that’s the computer, not the associate. Most older titles only allow the dollar trade in. If it comes up as less than four dollars, they can take it off if you’d rather keep it.

  15. Sally says:

Here it was 4 bucks for movies as long as they weren’t scratched bad.

Odd how many different stores are making different rules, thats why the us one went bankrupt….

  16. Kendra says:

Does anyone know how long this is going on for?

  17. Kendra says:

traded in 27 dvds and got a 108.00$ credit to the store!!

  18. dizzyb says:

I just traded in 6 DVDs and was credited $4 for each of them. Especially sweet since I paid less than $4 for most (thank you, Liquidation World)!
I was told by the cashiers that the trade rate is dropping to $3 per movie as of Monday. So if you’ve got a pile that you don’t want, bring them in NOW!
