Can anyone tell me what’s the deal with “Fuel Savings Card”? It seems to me one pays ahead for no additional benefits that can take months to get back the value. You’re pretty much lending Petro-Canada $15 for no interest with the promise of buying 300L of gas from them, isn’t it? Why would anyone buy that?
In this particular case, it is free so it makes sense. But does it expire?

Adora – in this particular situation its not bad because you are paying $100 for a $100 gift card and get the fuel savings card free, which will save you $17 once you fill up 300 litres. Most of the times though, if you buy the fuel savings cards, then its exactly what you say – you are giving htem money upfront and will recoup the money when you fill up – pure stupidity but most people are too dumb to realize. Sometimes they offer these fuel savings cards at a discount, so sometimes for example, they will sell a $25 card for $20. But even then, you are saving $5 but over 500 litres, so yes, if gas is $1 a litre, then once you have filled up that last litre, you will have paid $495 for the $500 of gas because you would have saved the $5 up front.
