Canada Post have announced the first communities that will switch from door to door delivery to community boxes, will your street be changing in 2014?
Customers with door-to-door delivery will be converted to community mailboxes in 2014 in areas with postal codes that begin with:
- Calgary: T2B, T3J
- Fort McMurray: T9H, T9J, T9K
- Winnipeg: R2P, R2V
- Oakville: L6H, L6J, L6K, L6L, L6M
- Ottawa: K2K, K2L, K2M
- Rosemère: J7A
- Lorraine: J6Z
- Bois-des-filion: J6Z
- Charlemagne: J5Z
- Repentigny: J5Y, J6A, J5Z
- Halifax: B4A, B4B, B4C, B4E, B4G
They seem to be spread out across the country to allow each province a case study to show how it works. More information can be found here.
who will my dog chase after now???
Good one Sampler haha
Does anyone know if there is a charge for these mailboxes if so I might just op out I don’t want to pay $100 for a key so that they have someone to drop off junk mail.
I would think there would only be a charge for a lost key, this policy is already unpopular without fees for the keys
No cost Tammy.
Will cost you only if you lose both set of keys and Canada Post needs to change the existing lock.
What’s this about the “first” community mailboxes?
We’ve had community boxes for about 20 years in Rothesay,NB
They look slightly different but essentially the same thing.
First ones replacing door to door delivery
Thanks for sharing. My postal code is up there. We never had door-to-door delivery to begin with. We have community boxes that cover a couple of streets. Looking at the PDF, they’re planning on covering half the city :/ I don’t like this change but I’m sure I’ll get used to it over time.
