Sport Chek is offering a great freebie right now! In-store you can get up to three pairs (per customer) of skates sharpened for free! It’s a great time to dust your skates off and get them sharpened before the fall hits. Free is free! Click here to check out Sport Chek and remember the offer ends August 30th.
Thanks Sally, you are a real sharp deal finder.
Do you need a coupon or just walk in with three pairs of skates?
Anyone try the deal yet?
Thanks.
I work at sport check and no coupon is required, just bring your skates in!
Thanks!! This is a very useful freebie!!
Be sure to be careful which skates you are taking to be sharpened. Sports Chek sharpens HOCKEY skates. If you are using figure skates, don’t sharpen them there, go to Figure Skating Boutique or do a little research and find out what places do figure skates. The way the skates are sharpened are different and if your kid plans to use their figure skates a while, the hockey sharpening method will kill the blade. Remember that the figure skating skates have picks in the front while the hockey blade doesn’t, so the hockey sharpening method can be too sharp and actually hurt the front picks that are needed for those figure skating jumps. Something I learned from personal experience with a family member.
@ Julie, thanks for the advice! I was just planning to dig up my two pairs of figure skating skates and take advantage of this deal. That sucks, but I sure wouldn’t want to blades to be ruined!
Do not take them there!!!!!!! They are not properly trained!!!!!!!!!!!with the amount of sharpenings the are doing, they will rush and do a bad job!!!! Always go to a trusted place…Just because it isd free.. Doesn’t mean it is good!!
It probably depends on which store you go to. I’ve had it done there for the last couple of years and they’ve always done a good job.
Hehe its probably better to get them to do it then those machines 🙂
I have to agree with Scott. We have yet to get a good skate sharpening at Sport Chek
I live in Cambridge Ont.. There are some ok places in the area but always stick with one place.I don;t want to mention actual places but it is near the 401 and #24 hwy
It depends on who is working for the quality of the sharpening. I’ve had some REALLY bad ones before at sportchek, but also some good ones.
Remember…. You don’t notice a bad sharpening until you have had a good one…
