Canadian Freebies: Catfish Cookbook *Update*

Update2:

Mary sent another more considerate email so I’ll remove the links as she requested.

Update:

In regards to the Catfish Cookbook freebie:

*link removed – If you’re seriously interested in the Catfish Cook Book please let me know and I’ll email you the link.*

I got this rude email from the people of The Catfish Institute.

*removed her email as she requested*

Mary, I’m sorry I ever promoted your products on SmartCanucks.ca. Sending an email threatening me and giving me deadlines was rude and uncalled for. Had you sent a polite email I would have immediately removed the links to your free Catfish Cookbook. But since you were rude and ungrateful for the free marketing, I will not comply to your threats so feel free to “escalate this matter”.

Free Catfish Cookbook can be found at: (copy the link and paste it into your browser)

    ewwwwwwww

just can’t stand the thought of catfish. and the stuff sells cheap(er) than most fish usually.

  2. mich says:

Maybe you can just substitute catfish with another kind of fish then? I think that might work!

  3. nsangel says:

ya, if you know what kind of fish is similar? i donno if it’s like haddock, or halibut?? i won’t be substituting tilapia that’s for sure. hubby hates tilapia.

  4. maureen says:

Awesome – these make great xmas presents for the catfish fishermen (women).

  5. Mary says:

Actually, this was a small giveaway that was posted without the Catfish people’s knowledge. They can’t possibly fulfill all the requests they have received from people who just want free stuff so they can’t send the cookbook to the requests from freebie type sites, saying that they’ve run out–it was while supplies last anyway.

  6. Ginger says:

I agree that this probably shouldn’t have been posted since as Mary mentioned there is probably only a small supply of books for the real enthusiasts.

However I don’t think the email from the catfish people was warranted. They’re doing more harm than good for their company by responding in this manner.

I think Mary S. needs to take a course in PR. They can’t really escalate this matter any further, anyway. It would probably just cost them money.

    Empty threats, say I.

  7. Nettie says:

OMG…I LOVE your response to this Boo! 🙂

  8. Olena says:

I wonder how much time Mary S spend sending this kind of threats to other freebies sites… How can one NOT expect it to be posted on the freebies site? Bad research and marketing Mary S…

  9. Julia says:

Oh great, now I won’t be able to get a cookbook! They took the whole website down.

    I love fish!

  10. me says:

thats hilarious.. her PR skills are horrible, she could have explained it was a small company and could not fulfill that demand and asked nicely to remove the post!

  11. Brandy says:

Awesome… I can just see the cat-fish companies christmas letters now…LOL.. they def need some PR skills …I sure hope they treat their employees better then their potential customers:>

  12. lisalisa534 says:

Are you guys even allowed to post a private email from someone?

  13. Sara says:

lisalisa534: Why wouldn’t you be allowed to post someone’s email? They’re not really private at all. People need to know this before they hit send.

  14. meenapapu says:

Boo also received long time ago to remove a post ( dont remember which one was it though )in a nice way and she did remove it. Mary would have been little nice in requesting and as Boo said she would have certainly removed with a “Sorry”…..
