It seems like Shopper’s Drug Mart is determined to get customers in their stores! Every week a new promotion! Hey I’m not complaining, just making an observation. If you absolutely need to get stuff from SDM this week, then might as well get the Esso GC. Otherwise, I’ll wait til they have 20x the points event again before I shell out another $75 at SDM.

If you do get the Esso Gift Card, make sure you enter the contest for free gas for a year! How great would that be? Hey maybe someone from  SC will win free gas for a year! That would be awesome!

Thanks to meguwo and SweetDeals who both posted at the same time! Lol!

I’d like to give a warning about the gas gift card promo. I know I am not the only one to have had this experience, but back in November when the last gas card promo was, I bought the amount needed to get one and when I tried to use it on the last day of expiry I was refused at the counter. As you can imagine, I was embarrassed and called Shoppers head office to complain. Long story short, I’m still dealing with Esso trying to get my $20 worth of gas. I have been calling every few weeks and every time they say they are mailing it out to me, and they confirm my address. I have yet to receive anything they have “mailed” out. Sorry to drag this out but I just wanted to give you something to think about before spending all the money to get the bonus. I have also read that this has happened often with the Subway cards.

I work for Shoppers and I had that happen to me as well on the final day. I even decided at 10pm the night before as I was driving by Esso that I would go the next morning on my way to work when it was less busy. The Esso clerk told me it was no longer valid and I ended up throwing the card in the garbage. Then the next day I found out from a memo at work that Esso was in error and to communicate to any customers who brought this issue to the store the mailing address to send your expired card to and Esso would reimburse you immediately with a new gift card. Stupid me though left the card at the Esso when I had walked out.

They may be determined to get customers but how about keeping the ones they have. The shoppers drugmart in my neighborhood has very poor customer service especially when you try to return an item. Several times we have bought food items that have been well past their expiry date.Different items at different times all expired and still sitting on the shelf.

Shopper’s Drug Mart definitely doesn’t have the best return policy, but its better then not having one at all (final sale).

I guess with the gas cards, make sure to use them before the last day of expiry. That’s a bummer though!

Plus, its not worth buying a bunch of crap you don’t need just to get the Gas card. If you need certain things its a nice bonus.

Valentine’s Day is coming up, I know perfume/cologne is a popular gift so that might be a good idea to purchase to spend the $75 (just an idea).

I just got back and spent the $75. To make it really worth my while to get the gas card I made sure to use a tonne of coupons and to purchase pepsi and tostitos.

Shoppers has a promotion on (buy two bags of tortilla chips and get a free salsa). Plus there’s a mail in deal for tostitos/pepsi as well (spend $20 on pepsi/tostitos in one shot and mail in the receipt and get a bunch of coupons back).

That way I got free salsa, $20.00 Esso gas card, Shopper points, and will recieve a bunch of FPC for Pepsi/Tostitos products in the mail. Now if I only remembered to pay with my airmiles credit card!
