free-thomas

On Saturday, August 28, 2010, Toys R Us is giving away a free Thomas and Friends wooden engine. You can choose from Thomas, Smudger, George, or Rheneas. This is a great freebie for the kiddies who love to watch the show or just love trains in general. I hope my store doesn’t run out of this great freebie, as I missed out on the infamous $5 off coupon a few weeks ago from Babies R Us.

*In-store only. One coupon per guest. Limited supply of free engines at each location, while supplies last. Not available in Quebec or in Express stores.

Click here to print your coupon.

Thank you to koala for finding this great freebie!

  20. Stephanie says:

This was a great freebie! Each of my girls got one!

  21. kim says:

I wish I had a printer…I’d like to get one for my nephew

  22. frustrated says:

The trains here in edmonton sell for $14.99 each, the west end store was allowing people multiple free trains as they had pre printed vouchers at the till so my little boy got all 4 🙂

  23. IRefuseToPayFullPrice says:

Got to the Brampton one at 10 am, there were only 6 left, all George. They retail for $14.99 each, $16.94 with tax. Great freebie for my 2 kids!

  24. oceanblue says:

The Mississauga store I visited (around 10ish) has none left .. but as i walked around the store i found “Thomas”.. but the cashier said YES it is the right “Thomas”, but she couldn’t give to me for free , since it wasn’t from the “freebie stock”.

  25. Marta says:

Thanks to all of you greedy people who thought it was so clever to get 2 trains for 1 child. I was 2 spots away from receiving 1. Nice example you are setting for your children.

  26. Avery says:

oceanblue the same thing happened to me!. I was so disappointed. We went to the library to print it out, took our time and money to print it out, only to find that our toys r us was handing out coupons to the 1st people in the store, so they were sold out before the store even opened!! How unfair was that, and I agree, getting multiples isn’t fair because lots of kids didn’t even get one 🙁

They told us the magnet area was a different colour on the free ones compared to the not free ones…lol

  27. sonia says:

great freebie – i got mine today! thanks for posting!!!

  28. Koolaid says:

I lined up with my Autistic son freaking out but when he got to give in his coupon he was full of smiles! And for those above…the coupon said one per guest.

  29. trebles says:

People line up since 8am at Winston Churchill,Mississauga. People at front got 2, parents went to different registers. Two kids, what did they expect. None left for the rest of us in line.

  30. ryry says:

Great freebie! We had to line up too! My TRU just had them in small bins at the back of the store, I would guess that they has maybe 60 – 80 of them, no way this would have lasted long, glad we got there early.
For those above, if you really think that your store was unfair or wrong in the way they handled this then contact TRU office. I did with teh Zellers Midnight madness with a DS last time and it ended up that Zellers honoured the Midnight Madness price for me.
The coupon clearly states one per guest – we ended up with all four trains – waited in line for 20 min. – maybe TRU needs to consider their wording?, I don’t think its fair that a store had coupons pre-printed, I don’t have a printer and went out of my way to print them prior to Saturday, knowing these would go fast. I was lucky to get all of them as people were running.
If you really feel you were done wrong – contact the people who can change it.

  31. Marta says:

I don’t mind if a family with 2 children received more than 1 train. It’s those that got more than 1 train for only 1 child that grinds my gears. I don’t care what the coupon said, selfish is selfish.

  32. frustrated says:

Whatever i got 4 trains for my son, an employee had said that they were allowing this so do get angry because i was fortunate if you were told u could get 4 you would too. besides i am not a cherry picker i spend lots of cash at toys r us every year and besides the free trains and hotwheels i spent $216.28 there yesterday. Please are so quick to judge so give me a break

  33. Sally says:

I didn’t go yesterday but toysrus did put one per guest, so I see no probs if you had 3 kids and each getting one for themselves. 🙂

I wish I had lived closer to take advantage!

  34. Stephanie says:

This truly is a case of the early bird gets the worm. Sucks for people who were unable to get one because this was a great freebie.

  35. i.am.a.cliche says:

The Toys R Us in Saskatoon only had 10 trains in total for the giveaway due to a shipping problem that held the rest of them up in Regina. I was very impressed with the way they handled it though. They said they were getting 20 of each kind in for this giveaway and proceeded to take down 20 names and numbers for each train. They printed off receipts for the free trains for each person and guaranteed that we would get one, we would just have to be a little patient. The line took a bit longer this way but it was better than leaving empty handed.

  36. Lisa Pineo says:

My local store in Coquitlam, BC had 200 people lined up outside before opening and was completely out in 10 mins. What a freaking waste of time to print off the coupon and go to get it.

  37. Lisa Pineo says:

Marta, I totally agree. Getting 4 trains for 1 kid is just greedy. If you’ve one got 1 child you should only get 1 toy. Totally selfish to grab them all up and not let others have any. I have no idea if that happened at my local one or not. I would have been pissed to see that happening when it clearly says only one right on the coupon.

  38. tami says:

The Oakville store had last 4 (Thomas only) trains left 1 hour after opening. So I guess we got lucky, but they didn’t even want to let me have 1 for each of my 3 kids, they said I was considered the only guest!! So I pleaded with the cashier, why can’t my kids be each be a guest, and she let me have one for each. At least they are not fighting over them, they each got the same one. I really feel bad for those who didn’t get any…:-(

  39. Frankie says:

This offer sucked because there were no “family” limits and because staff didn’t bother to notify people in line that we have “xx” number of trains and you are the “xx+n”th person in line so we’ve run out. It’ pretty useless to wait in line for long periods of time (with kids) for nothing.

In future I hope they restrict these offers to one per adult / one per child with one accompanying adult. It’s not reasonable that a family of 3 (2A + 1C) gets three products. Nor is it reasonable for children who are too young to safely play with the product to receive it.
