Soon to be a motion pictures starring Colin Firth, the popular comic series, Kingsman: The Secret Service by author Mark Millar (also known for his work in the comic book series Watchmen and Kick Ass) is now on sale in paperback edition at Chapters Indigo Canada for just $7.97 (regularly $13.99).

The Kingsman: The Secret Service series follows a secret agent and his nephew, who is on a pathway of self-destruction until his uncle takes him under his wing to begin training him as the next generation’s greatest spy. Though I cannot personally attest to the quality of this comic book series, the reviews from both Goodreads and Amazon.ca cannot sing enough praises for this book.

The feature film of Kingsman: The Secret Service is going to be released in February 2015, so you still have some time to order a copy from Chapters and receive it in time to finish reading it before all the spoilers are leaked out by movie-goers!

Stripes are on parade (and on sale) during Old Navy Canada’s weekend sale of 50% off sitewide and storewide with the only exclusions being on select pieces of merchandise. This sale is set to last until this Monday, January 19th after which all of the new arrivals and regular priced merchandise will shoot back up to their regular price.

It’s back at Starbucks Canada! The Starbucks Treat Receipt promo is back and can I just say, it is one of my favourite times of year at Starbucks (next to Frappucino Happy Hour) as it makes it so that your afternoon grande sized hot or cold beverage is just $3. This deal only really makes sense if you were to get a more extravagant drink for your afternoon treat, i.e. a grande size pike place would not make sense since these are already under $3.

The best way to take advantage of this offer from Starbucks, is to go in the morning and grab the cheapest menu item you can find (the oat bars are usually around a dollar, and would cover your breakfast as well) or even a short medium-roast, which is also around a dollar (depending upon the taxes in your province). Keep your receipt from the morning, before 11:30am, and then bring it in again in the afternoon after 2pm and order the biggest and best drink you can find on the menu.

My recommendations include, a solo, grande, extra-hot, Tazo Chai latte (the solo adds an extra shot of espresso to the drink, which is usually an extra $0.60 but will be nixed as all grande size beverages are $3 standard). Or, if you’re brave enough to sip on something cold, then you could really make your money back by ordering a grande size frappucino, which are normally the bigger ticket items at Starbucks.

The treat receipt offer at Starbucks is only on for a limited time, so take advantage while you can!

Alfred Hitchcock, the director who, more or less, all modern mystery is modelled on has had three of his most iconic films remastered and combined onto one Blu-Ray disc that is currently being sold on Amazon.ca for just $10.49. Space: Above and Beyond is a series created by the same writers behind the cult favourite X-Files, and though it only appeared for one brief season during 1995-1996, the audience met the cancelling of this with great despair. The show follows Marine pilots who are facing a war against alien invaders through a 23-episode series, each segment running about an hour.
