McDonald’s Mondays: Rappin’ Big Macs

This one goes out to all my homies. Word to your mothers and so on.

It’s hard to not be amused by a man teasing the drive-thru box — but rapping his order at it? That’s priceless.

Interesting fact. I can go to any McDonald’s drive thru in North America, say “It’s Jim,” and they’ll know exactly what I want. True story.

Facebook

I’ve been very busy lately and hadn’t checked my smartcanucks email for a while… today I went through my unread emails and guess what I found… not deals, not freebies… but facebook invitations! 😛 from people I’ve never met: and note that this is not my personal email!

Facebook is the 19th most visited website in the world and the 4th most visited in Canada. Toronto has the largest number of facebook users in the world. A city like Kingston with a population of 120,000 has 32,000 facebook users! a huge number!

Since there’s a lot of interest in facebook – I spend waste a lot of time on it too – here are a couple of hilarious facebook songs:

McDonald’s Mondays: Eddie McMurphy

“I’ll make you a hamburger better than McDonald’s.” “Better than McDonalds??”

It may be hard for you to remember back this far, but there was a time somewhere between the invention of the wheel and the election of George Bush the First when Eddie Murphy was funny. Really funny. Like – genius funny. During that period he released two concert films. The second of these films, RAW, contained four of my favorite minutes of McDonald’s related humour. Not so much because it was about McDonald’s, but because it was about an experience I think we’ve all had as a child when we ask our mothers to take us to McDix.

A bit of forewarning though — this clip does contain a mid-80’s Eddie Murphy level of profanity (about the same I’d use in regular conversation), so it may not be safe for work, kids, or soccer mom’s with a heart condition. If you enjoy this clip, feel free to check out this other great moment from RAW that was included as part of fjetsam’s April Fools collection.

McDonald’s Mondays: The Bionic Burger

Normally we’re quite pro-McDix around here on McDonald’s Mondays, however, in an effort to provide fair and mcbalanced coverage (and in an effort to showcase something really cool) we present The Bionic Burger.

While the first part of this video is a re-creation and the last part of the video is fact-based slander, it’s the middle part of this video that makes sitting through this worthwhile. In it, they showcase The Burger Museum — a collection of McDonald’s hamburgers that have been left out for years — the earliest being 1989 — and have yet to decompose.

This video is an attempt to plug the website thebestdayever.com, which is basically just a pricey weight-loss infomercial. That being said, images of The Burger Museum (including a live webcam of the most recent entry) are on a sub-page which I’ve linked to here.

So now when the nuclear winter settles in, we’ll have Twinkies AND Big Macs to munch on. The post-apocalypse isn’t looking so bad after all.

The Deal Or No Deal Canada Prize Board

Samantha Burns posted the Deal or No Deal Canadian Prize Board. Here is her blog post:

I saw a commercial about that game show coming to Canada, and thought I’d share the new prize board with you all.

Go for the ‘big money’ – a Year of Beer!

By the way, what’s with Howie Mandel’s little fist handshake thing, also known as ‘The Touch‘, aka ‘Knucks’, aka The Fist Bump, and who knows what else it’s called.

Does he have some phobia about shaking people’s hands or something? (Probably, I mean, doesn’t half of Hollyweird have some bizarre hang up?)

McDonald’s Mondays: Birth of a Clown II

If ever there was a time that Ronald McDonald looked like John Wayne Gacy, this was it. This commercial aired in the Washingtion area in 1971, eight years after Ronald’s debut. As you can see, by ’71 he began to look a little more like the clown we know and love today. Still — the slightly askew make-up and the creepy Willard Scott voice make this one of the more terrifying Ronald appearances.. It just goes to show, even pop icons go through growing pains.

Does anybody else find it strange that the doll looks more like Ronald than Ronald does?

Summer Beauty Tips

Summer Beauty Tips

Useful to the point summer beauty tips by lifetoolsforwomen.com

Summer is a great time for relaxation, recreation and renewal. If you’re like most of us, you probably take advantage of the longer days and warm weather to enjoy extra time with family and friends. While enjoying the hot, lazy days of summer, keep in mind that different beauty rules apply. Here are a few tips to keep you looking as good as you feel:

Summer Hair Care

 • If you spend lots of time outdoors and want to spice up your look naturally, try combing a little lemon juice through your hair. The sun will lighten those strands faster than your locks sans lemon, giving you an attractive sun-streaked look. It’s also easier on your budget than salon highlights.

Kwik-E-Mart in the real world

McDonald’s Mondays: Birth of a Clown

Set your way back machines to 1963 kiddies. The Beatles have landed, Kennedy’s been shot, and a growing hamburger chain meets up with its legendary-mascot for the first time. Created by Willard Scott for the Washington-Annapolis franchises, Ronald McDonald looked a fair bit different than the clown we know and love today. Long before making a name for himself as the first roundish weatherman on the Today Show (who still comes back to wish birthday greetings from time to time), Willard was rather famous as the DC Area’s own Bozo the Clown. The local franchisee contacted Willard, one thing led to another, and the next thing you know someone is uttering the words “Introducing the worlds newest, silliest, and hamburger eatingest clown — Ronald McDonald!” Hamburger-eatingest. That’s my new favourite adjective.

Normally I try to change it up every week with our McDonald’s Mondays posts, however, this is a two-parter just waiting to happen. Tune in next week when we visit Willard behind the make-up nearly a decade later — not quite the clown we know today, but a lot closer than this drink-tray-hat-wearing lunatic in 1963.

McDonald’s Mondays: The McNugget Master!

food

I’ve always been fascinated with competitive eating. Maybe it’s just my love of hot dogs, but I think I could take that little Japanese bastard Kobayashi. But McCompetitive Eating? That’s the real challenge.

In the comfort of his own home (and therefore probably not officially recognized), Dave “Megamunch” Schoffner downed 80 Chicken McNuggets in under 30 minutes to set the new world record for chicken nugget consumption. But does he pull it off?

The Fast Food Song

I was reading Dags’ blog and she had a video of the “Fast Food Song”. Annoying song but I can’t get it out of my head :P  …  the video is so cheesy
