Until December 31st you can take advantage of this offer from CIBC. CIBC is currently having a promotion for their Aventura Gold/Infinite Cards. You will receive 30,000 bonus Welcome Points and if you go to a CIBC branch that is less than a year old, you will also have the first annual fee waived (Annual fee is otherwise $120). From January 1st 2014 and on, the bonus points will go back to the regular 15,000 points.
The unfortunate part is we are getting close to the end of this CIBC promotional offer. You will have to make 3 transactions of any amount by January 31st to receive your welcome bonus.
The 30,000 Bonus Welcome Points you receive are equivalent to a $250 Gift Card or $800 worth towards Domestic Flights.
The downfall is the annual fee is quite steep if you don’t end up going through a CIBC branch that is less than a year old, and you can’t be an existing member to take advantage of this offer.
Here is some more information on CIBC’s Promotion on the Aventura Gold and Infinite Cards.
any idea how one would find out if a CIBC is less than a year old?
how come I don’t see this on the link or on the website?
@Altamom, I would call you local CIBC location and ask if they are less than a year old, or ask if they could direct you to one.
@Roy, this offer was confirmed by a CIBC employee.. it says on the link get a *Bonus 15,000 points. The original points were 15,000 so now the Bonus points total 30,000
Hmmm @ Miss Pickle. I don’t think thats right. Bonus 15,000 points is the “welcome” points. Even the terms and conditions state “you will receive 15,000 welcome points upon purchase”. It would say 30,000 if this was the case.
@Roy, here is a review stating they have received their 30,000 points. There are more reviews stating this as well..
“Applied for this card and had it within two weeks. Made my three purchases and received the 30,000 bonus points as promised within 3 or 4 days. I now have about 32000 points +.
This card is identical to the RBC Avion card but I just moved all my banking back to CIBC so changed the RBC Avion for a CIBC Aventura.”

Right on! Strange that its not advertised anywhere.
from site “This card is perfect if you:
Have a minimum personal income of $60,000 or a minimum household income of $100,000”
I’ve just call CIBC credit card, and they said we have to pay the annual fee:$120, if anybody has the code for first year waived, please let us know. Thank you.
On their Aventura Visa link, you can chat with an online person. So here’s the deal.
Yes, this deal is accurate. You get 30,000 going to a new branch, there’s one in Toronto and one in Hamilton. You can get this information through the online chat person.
So I called the Toronto location, a friendly staff explained, you need to get the card approved by the end of the year to get this deal, plus 3 transactions by Jan 31 in order to get the 15,000 additional points for signing up at a new branch. Only problem is, it takes a min 5 days to approve the card, which means, you won’t get the extra 15,000. You’ll still get the 15,000 and waived fee for applying at a new branch. Hope that helps.
I would probably wait for a better and more lucrative offer. Anyone has any idea how long to wait after you cancel the card to reapply for another offer? In the States, your credit history is cleared every 7 years.
Do I get the credit card yes or no for real when did it happen
