Costco Food Court Now Members Only In the U.S.

Canadian Deals & Coupons

Costco stores in the United States will enforce a members-only rule at its food courts starting in March 2020, a rule that apparently millions of people have ignored for years. Buying items from the food court has always required a membership, but not all stores have strictly enforced the policy.

It is likely Costco wants to free up space for members in some of its crowded locations and make sure that only the people who are paying for a membership reap the benefits of its cheap food prices.

Are you with or against this rule being strictly enforced in Canada? Do you grab food from Costco’s food court as a non-member?

How could anyone be against this rule being enforced? Buying a membership helps subsidize the cheap food. Who doesn’t like fines for speeding? Speeders. Who doesn’t laws penalizing murder? Murderers. Don’t murder and don’t take up my seat at Costco.

100% agree with this rule. Why am I paying for a membership if all these people are getting food for free? It’s always soooo packed in the food area. The membership isn’t even expensive. A gold star membership is $67.80 a year, if you divide that by 12 months you’re paying $5.65 a month. $5.65 is easily a Starbucks drink. This irritates me because some people are just cheap where they don’t need to be. The savings you get having a Costco membership are crazy, you honestly get way more than your membership back in savings. That is all for my rant lol

Costco being “cheap” is a myth. Prices are consistently higher than their competitors. The food court sells garbage anyway so it’s no loss.

Enforcing the “members only” policy will help to free up space for actual members to enjoy. Enlarging the seating area is not the answer. It’s too costly. Membership has it’s rewards. Time to tell the free loaders to hit the road.
