Eyes Lips Face (ELF) Cosmetics Spend $20 & Receive 40 Free Eyeshadows With Discount Coupon Code Until August 23. Use Paypal for Canada Shipping

elf_canada

I’ve been pondering all day if I should post this or not because of all the confusion with the last Elf discount. I decided to give this one more shot.  If you spend $20 with ELF until August 23 and use the promo code “EGEYEFREE” at checkout you will receive 10 eyeshadow quads (40 colours) for free!  Remember, to use PAYPAL to pay so that the shipping will be $6.95 rather then $14.95. You have to be “logged out” of your account for this offer. It does say $8 ship to Canada but its an error. I’ll try my best to help out if you should run into problems.  Click here to go to ELF cosmetics.

What do you mean by “logged out of your account for this offer” ???

  2. Sally says:

If you want to use paypal and get the free shipping log out of your elf account first otherwise it goes wonky for a lot of users. 🙂

  3. Lucid says:

It didn’t work when I tried entering the coupon code. The message said “Sorry, but your order is too small for this coupon” when my order was $20. The coupon only worked when I increased my order to $30.

I was not logged in to my account or paypal.

  4. SingingGoose says:

The order will have to be $30 with the chosen free shadows, then enter the coupon code and it subtracts the $10 for the shadows, leaving you with a $20 order.

  5. jtran says:

I am going to place my order..but it does say $8.00 shipping plus

“Attention Canadian Residents: Any Canadian Order that has a value over $20 USD (not including shipping) will incur the following charges: $5.00 customs handling fee and a 6% GST Tax, as well as local Provincial taxes (where applicable).
These charges will be due to your mail courrier upon delivery of the order.”

Please continue to post these up! I am subscribed to their newsletter but for the past 2 months, I still haven’t received any of their updates on sales. Thanks!

  7. jtran says:

I just realized even though it does say $8.00 shipping, it doesnt add up on the total…

  8. CityGirl says:

They WILL CHARGE YOU $14.95 to ship to Canada. “Standard Shipping is $6.95 in the US and $14.95 in Canada.” Your online invoice will say shipping is $6.95, but after you authorize the PayPal payment, the shipping charge will be changed to $14.95. Here is a quote from the email I received from E.L.F:
” We apologize for any confusion. It is stated on our website in our FAQ’s that Canadian shipping is $14.95 and that free or reduced shipping promotions are applied as a credit toward the Canadian shipping fee.”
I checked the FAQ, it doesn’t say that, but it doesn’t matter. They still charge you $14.95 AFTER you authorize the payment of $6.95.

  9. orangegummy says:

Bummer! The PayPal trick to save on shipping no longer works! I did place an order a couple weeks ago following the PayPal payment procedure exactly, and the $8.00 was not on the PayPal receipt at the end…but I just ordered tonight and it was $14.95 S/H. Did I do something wrong or did e.l.f. finally fixed it as they realized they have been losing money on shipping to Canada? 🙁

  10. Sally says:

I used my paypal balance for both my orders for the free shipping deal and was only charged for my order both times.

Today I paid for my order with my paypal balance again and was only charged 6.95, are you sure you werent logged in and payed via paypal citygirl? I know if your logged in it takes you to a page where you fill out your details, but they just a straight credit card charge page, not paypal. You only get the paypal option when your not logged in.

  11. honeydoo says:

^^trust me they’re not losing money on shipping.. if they just shipped first class int’l via USPS a large makeup order would be no more than 4-5$, under 2-3$ for a small order. i use USPS a lot.

  12. heidi says:

says that i can’t use coupon code bcuz i don’t have the right item(s) in my shopping cart? i’m spending $30…..
on the site it does say coupon code THIRTY for free shipping

  13. jtran says:

does it make a difference if I use my paypal balance or credit card through paypal?..after I click submit on the Paypal page it takes me back to the ELF page to confirm my address…I haven’t submitted my payment yet I am waiting to see what you guys find out.

  14. Sally says:

They are losing money on shipping though because their being silly about it. My last 2 packages have cost 19 to ship. The one before that 27! What they need to do is train their staff how to ship, not just slap on a pitney bowes stamps for whatever price 🙂

  15. CityGirl says:

Gee Sally – I’m not sure. Maybe I didn’t pay by PayPal. But I clicked on PayPal, I didn’t give elf a credit card number or anything else, just PayPal, and here’s what it says about my purchase in my PayPal account transaction log:
Aug 4, 2010 Order To JA Cosmetics In Progress Details -$29.00 USD
And I filed a dispute with PayPal about elf adding on extra charges.

Are you sure you weren’t charged $6.95 plus another $8 they didn’t tell you about? Maybe you should check your paypal account.

  16. Sally says:

Nope I wasnt. I didnt actually have enough to cover any extra in my account. I def think they scr**ed you, and that sucks so bad 🙁 I hope they didnt do this to anyone else 🙁

Aug 4, 2010 Payment To JA Cosmetics Completed Details
    Payment To JA Cosmetics 95P**RH****64V -$10.00 $0.00 -$10.00 USD

Is what my paypal account says. All I spend was the min 10. Maybe ELF added them on and the coupon code didnt work before you went to paypal or if your logged into elf it does add the 15 shipping? Either way im sorry this happened to you. What a headache 🙁

  17. sabina says:

OK so I picked $20.00 worth of stuff and it told me I can’t use the coupon but then I looked it over again and it says you have to spend $20.00 on stuff plus pick which 10 eyeshadow quads you want to get and add them to your cart then put the code in to get the ten for free. But if you want to do the free shipping you have to spend $30.00 and you can’t use both coupons at once

  18. Bronwyn says:

Hey Sally, thanks for posting this!

It all worked like you said when I placed my order last night. This morning when I checked how my PayPal payment had been processed, I was indeed only charged $6.95 usd for shipping.

To recap, I added $20 dollars worth of ELF to my basket. Next, I added 10 of the promo eye shadows. Next, I entered the coupon code to make the 10 eye shadows free and putting my total back to $20. Next, I clicked check out and elected to pay by Paypal. I was told that shipping would be $8 to Canada (here’s a link to the screen shot: http://flic.kr/p/8tnjMH). When I checked the “initial” Paypal charge and then the “processed” Paypal charge, I noticed that actually the shipping was still just $6.95 usd.

Anyway, thanks again Sally for this great post!

  19. Sally says:

^ Thanks so much for taking the time to post your experience and details of how it works!

Im so happy you were able to get it to work!

  20. orangegummy says:

I’ve cancel my order from last night (14.95 shipping) and will re-order again this evening…hope this time only 6.95 for S/H will come up! Thanks!

  21. dori says:

i search on google, some ppl says e.l.f. is scam?!

  22. jtran says:

@ Dori, I’ve seen ELF in stores and many beauty bloggers own it too. It’s definitely not a scam

  23. CityGirl says:

As ticked off as I am about them charging me a surprise $14.95 extra shipping charge, I received my order and I really like the products. The shipping charges may be a scam, but the cosmetics are pretty good – especially for the price. The waterproof eyeliner pen is great! It’s like a Sharpie marker for your eyelids – although the plum is just very dark brown – hard to tell the difference between plum and black – but I love it. The eyelash curler works really well too. I ordered the sharpener, it didn’t show up. The invoice said they would give me a refund, but they didn’t. Not going to hassle about the $1.
