Forever 21 Canada is well known for their inexpensive trendy clothes, but many forget that they are also well stocked in everyday essentials and basic layering pieces that help keep your wardrobe current throughout the year without going all out on this season’s must-have trending pieces.

The basic shop, as Forever 21 labels it, is stuffed full with lightweight tees, tight fitting shift dresses, and long layering skirts and leggings all of which are sold for either just above the $10 mark or well under that price point. And for just a dollar more, at $7.90 is this pencil skirt from the Forever 21 basic shop. The nice thing about pencil skirts, in my personal experience (as I am a shorter person), is that you can either wear them longer as a skirt, or hoist them up to be worn as a strapless dress for when you need an extra layer beneath a longer sheer skirt.

This boxed striped tee, which is currently being sold for $13.90, could be worn with either the long pencil skirt or layered overtop of the bodycon dress for a funky daytime look. Either way, the outfit total would still come in at under $22.
