Here’s a question – since the whole point of the box is that you bring it back to the store again and again in order to take your groceries home, how do they know if you bought it before or not? Don’t want anyone to think I’m trying to steal it!
Cashiers are supposed to put a sticker on the bin that says “bin paid for”. I’ve bought a few and only got the sticker once as the cashier forgot or they were out of stickers. Then I just ask the next time I check out with my bin.
Isn’t that going to wear/fall off with use, though? I mean like you said, if you don’t have one you can just ask next time and they give you one. Seems like someone unscrupulous could basically help themselves, though I guess cheap plastic boxes aren’t really items that they are worried about losing.
