If you sign up with Sampler, you should be aware of this in their privacy policy:
“We may also share your … phone number… with any current Partners at their request.”
There is no valid reason for their partners to possess this particular piece of information. Once those commerical partners have your number, they are under no obligation to keep it confidential or to refrain from soliciting you on your phone. Who else do they in turn pass your number (i.e. sell) to?
A few sample sized products is not worth this breach of personal privacy IMHO.
