Have you talked your way out of a speeding ticket??

I find it pretty ironic that after living all my life in the same city, I have NEVER gotten a speeding ticket here. However, on that occasion that I do decide to venture downtown…BAM…speeding ticket central! It’s like one, giant welcome sign: Welcome to Toronto, here’s a ticket!

It’s pretty obvious what city is strapped for cash, but I digress.

Over the weekend, I got my second speeding ticket ever. I was exiting a long ramp, with multiple exits, cutting around a car with a shaky rear bike rack, when a cop motioned me to the shoulder. I had been a victim of a speed trap! 🙁

After the whole licence, registration, insurance spiel, the cop retreated back to his car I was soo livid since come Dec./Jan. my record will be wiped completely clean of my last speeding ticket. So when the officer re-approached my car, I had decided that I was going to put my pride aside and get my acting chops together. I was going to plead with him.

(Did you know?: Once you receive a speeding ticket, the next time your insurance is up for renewal, your rate goes up…for 3 whole years!!! So on top of wasting time going to court, paying your ticket + fees, you are ultimately being penalised for 3 years. Someone please tell me how this is fair! I understand if your rates shoots up as a result of a collision that is your fault, but we’re talking about a speeding ticket here.)

After asking if the officer would give me a break, he said aggressively, “No…I have already written it out!” So I’m not sure if this meant that I had a chance to plead my case with him before he officially logged the offence.

I know that talking your way out of a ticket is not an urban myth as my sister would do it all. the. time. So if you have experience in this field, how did you get out of a speeding ticket?

P.S. I cannot cry on cue!

Never had one and never will. Maybe you should not speed, save a life and your cash.

  2. Just Me. says:

If you didn’t speed you wouldn’t have gotten a ticket. I’m so tired of people complaining that it’s a money grab etc. People are so worried about crime, gangs etc, when the true danger to people, and especially children, is things like traffic accidents and careless drivers, so I for one am happy that the police still issue tickets and enforce traffic laws. It sucks you got a ticket, but it’s hard to have sympathy.

  3. Rres says:

Have to agree. Sucks you got a ticket but maybe next time you won’t speed. Speed kills. Many accidents are caused by speeding which is why your insurance goes up. You are a greater risk for the insurance company.

  4. Ray says:

Now that’s a little unfair… everyone speeds. You just have to choose when and where. I doubt that those of you preaching “just don’t speed” never speed when driving.

  5. Gazpache says:

His “Pigmobile”?? Excuse me?? How incredibly offensive is that statement! You sped, you drove recklessly, you deserve the ticket.

As someone who has a police officer in the family, you calling them “pigs” is incredibly insulting and has NO place on a website like this. If you don’t like the police, that’s fine, but keep insulting, derogatory comments like that one to yourself.

  6. wow says:

lol I have never gotten a ticket for speeding before, but once I got a tic for being in the bus lane and yea that one was just a money grab because the cops were parked in a hidden spot just pulling over everybody! Ya I did try to talk my way out of it and it wasn’t happening, so good luck trying! Maybe try showing some leg or something hahahaha!

  7. csaund21 says:

    ‘Pigmobile’???

Wow, that’s bad. Actually, it’s pathetic.

  8. tut says:

I have a Brother who is cop and he is just doing his job. I find this whole blog very distastful and should be removed as no one has sympathy for you. Maybe when you get older and have kids, you will understand life dear.

  9. Christa says:

I agree with Gazpache, you are offensive here.

As person who recently got a speeding ticket, I didn’t have the attitude you seem to be portraying. I was genuinely upset that I was speeding as I was negligent and following flow of traffic.

Yes the city is in a money crunch but do you really think they are earning money on your $50 ticket when it costs them so much more to have police out patrolling speed traps because drivers don’t slow down. Let’s not add the costs of courts for those who fight their way out of earned tickets.

I don’t think you should be able to talk your way out of a ticket because you are wasting time an officer has dealing with your choice to speed when they could be saving or preventing crime elsewhere. That’s my opinion.

“After the whole licence, registration, insurance spiel, the cop retreated back to his pigmobile.”

Pigmobile? Serously? That’s the way to show respect to those out there busting their butts to keep the streets safe for others to drive on. Coming from a family of police officers, I’m quite disgusted.

You speed, you deserve the ticket. There should be no ‘talking your way out’ of breaking a law. Would you want someone driving under the influence to be able to talk their way around an arrest? You’re being just as dangerous, reckless and selfish when you decide to speed. I’ve watched two people very close to me die because of people needlessly speeding. Be thankful the officer stopped you instead of somebody ending up in your windshield down the road.

Some people shouldn’t be allowed to drive. Clearly you are one of them. If you can’t use common sense and follow safety rules, you don’t deserve the priveledge of a license.

    SPEED KILLS.
And so do people behind the wheel thinking they’re ‘safe’ when making dumb decisions.

  14. Sara says:

No one likes to get tickets – speeding, parking, or others – but remember that the police are just trying to keep us all safe. I agree with Gazpache that calling him a “pig” is uncalled for. The person you should be mad at is YOU, for breaking the law. Chalk it up to a lesson learned. Next time you’re in Toronto you’ll know to be more careful.

  15. Kalyn says:

Hah. Here’s Stephania again with her blatantly offensive and totally off-topic junk posts. Not in the least bit surprising. SmartCanucks must be getting low on actual relevant coupon and deal-related material if this sort of stuff is being posted.

  16. Louise says:

I always say that anytime someone gets a ticket they are due for it because for every time you get caught there are 10000 other times you were speeding and didn’t get caught.

Most people go over the limit at some point. Whether on purpose or over by 5KM/HR by accident. I don’t buy anyone who says they don’t speed. You may not do it on purpose but it happens.

Yes your insurance goes up because speeding says something about your risk factor.

Finally I find this post offensive for use of the word pigmobile. No really I do. Don’t speed and you won’t get caught. Get caught? suck it up and move on.

  17. Mike says:

Was the officer out of line for giving you a ticket?

You were on an off ramp with multiple exits which equates to multiple hazard points. You were cutting around a car on an off ramp. If you were worried about a shaky bike rack, your best course of action would have been to slow down to leave enough room that if there were an accident with that bike rack, you would have sufficient time to stop or slow enough to avoid it safely. Instead, you took the alternate route of speeding around him then thought coming on here and bitching about getting a ticket for your your reckless behavior would get you some sympathy.

Not only did your driving put yourself and those around you in danger, it also put the officer in danger. Officers too often die doing routine traffic stops.

Be more considerate. Your speeding didn’t get you to where you were going any faster and the small savings in time that is gained when you do speed without getting caught is not worth the consequences.

  18. Sandy says:

Yaa.. have to agree with the majority of the posts here:

This is not a controversial topic.. just a topic posted in poor taste =/

  19. Ida says:

Here’s an idea for the webmaster – make it possible to exclude certain authors from showing on the homepage, and make it possible to exclude them from the rss feeds. Failing that flexibility, it may be enough to simply make an rss feed and homepage view to exclude all posts by Stephania.

I think it would remove a lot of meta discussion from the comments on how inappropriate Stephania is, and enhance most viewers enjoyment off the site.

  20. Stephania says:

Everyone here has to seriously LIGHTEN up!

My other sis is a cop and we joke about these terms all the time. And it’s not as if cops have never heard these terms before, they all know how they are perceived by the public.

You are all acting as if I was driving with a beer bottle in my hand or something.

If you’re a perfect driver, never speed, never get tickets, always going 60km on most streets, kudos to you. You deserve a gold star!

  21. Wow...just Wow. says:

PS – I can’t wait until you need those police officers, and they take their time showing up in their ‘pigmobile’.

  22. Bargain Seeker says:

Why are we posting blogs like this on a shopping/coupon website.

Police officers are there to protect you NOT make your life miserable.

  23. Greg says:

    1. “Speed kills” is bulls***. Saying accidents are “caused by” speeding is also pretty much bullsh**t. Many accidents may be exacerbated by speed, but if “speed kills” were true absolutely, nobody would die in school zones, and the highways would be littered with corpses.

    2. I don’t think *anyone* should be able to argue or plead their way out of a speeding ticket. Either you were speeding, or you weren’t. (And if you weren’t, that’s what traffic court is for.) The fact you’ve got a nice pair and a low-cut top should not make a difference.

    3. One speeding ticket shouldn’t raise insurance rates. Two probably should. If you get two speeding tickets in a year, you’re not paying enough attention to the road, and probably shouldn’t be speeding in the first place. Better leave it to those of us who know how to do it right.

  24. Pandora says:

I see nothing wrong with a BLOG post that has an opinion in it. Or the fact that other people have different views. No need to attack anyone though.

I do not drive, due to a medical condition and I do not feel I would have full control over the vehicle. But I will say that almost everyone has at some point or another broken a traffic law, whether it be on purpose or due to something beyond their control. I do believe that there should be a bit of leeway with them as not all are reckless or dangerous.

  25. TheDoctor says:

  32. Kate says:

I’ve been pulled over at least 5 times and have never received a speeding ticket. I always get mad at myself when I get pulled over because it’s always in the same place, near a highway where the speed goes up to 100 but I always start speeding up too soon because I’m not paying attention.

I think the reason I’ve never received a ticket is because I get very quiet and somber (probably because I’m so mad at myself in my head) vs crying or complaining about the unfairness of it all. I think the cop usually recognizes my genuine regret and lets me go. I’ve never had to “talk” my way out of it.

That being said, if I were to get one, I sure wouldn’t whine and complain about it in a blog post. It’s YOUR fault, so it’s hard to feel sorry for you. And while I’m not flipping out over the “pigmobile” comment, it sure wasn’t classy.

This is a great blog for couponing but other than that, a lot of these side posts bother me. So whiny.

  33. Mike says:

Wow people really need to lighten up – and everyone speeds. I’ve gotten my share of tickets, but never really got mad about it – other than they finally caught me 🙂 I just hate when they hide in spots where it drops from 80 to 50 all of a sudden and they are waiting there to give you that nice thirty over ticket.

People preach when others are speeding, yet don’t look at themselves. Speed doesn’t kill. Look at the autobahn – it has insane speeds compared to here, yet you don’t hear about hundreds of accidents every day. People their respect the road and most here don’t. The fact that your going 10 over does not make you a speed freak that will kill everyone. Ever seen the idiot on the highway merging at 50km/hr only to get up to like 85 km/hr and stay there. That causes people to brake and rear end collisions happen. I say ticket the slow drivers. Would cause less people get annoyed and have to speed to safely pass them 🙂

  34. Mike says:

p.s – Mandyfgsf – someone driving 20km/hr over the speed limit on a highway is not reckless!! especially if its empty and everyone is aware. Are police driving reckless when they go 140 on the highway to get faster to a crash scene? Nope!

  35. hmmmm... says:

    1) Reckless? Going a little over the speed limit is not reckless.
    2) Speed does not kill – excessive speed maybe. In many cases, going too slow is just as dangerous.
    3) Speed traps are dangerous and should not be used
    4) If giving tickets was not a profitable venture, you think the city would keep doing it? It still nets a profit otherwise it would be on the cutting block along with libraries.
    5) I still support the idea of speeding tickets. It keeps the reckless in-line – but when you have a speed trap you are not only punishing the reckless (dangerous drivers on the road) but the unlucky too.
    6) Two tickets in a year. You deserve at least on of them…lol

  36. Nat says:

I hope when you are all ‘going the speed limit’ you are not doing so in the left lane. Speed kills for those who do not know how to drive, I dislike when people make this argument – I have to say I am offended by this statement and generalization *gasp*
I myself did not find this posting offensive – people these days are way to sensitive and whiny.

  37. Dawn says:

I can relate. I was victim of a speed trap. I was thinking about pinching the baby so I might get out of it but I was speeding and deserved a ticket.

We try so hard to save money, collect coupons, and hit the sales, then you get a $136 speeding ticket, d`oh!

  38. JP says:

I know a lot of ppl on the roads who should get a ticket for driving too slow. If driving 20 km/h over limit is an offense, then driving under should be as well.

  39. Dayanara says:

I have only gotten one speeding ticket and it was over 5 years ago. I was in shock I think, the cop told me to fight it, and I did to get it reduced to 10km over and a $50 fine with no demerits.

I was on a road doing 85-90ish when it dropped to 60 and I had an idiot on my tail that was pissing me off and did not notice the speed drop and bam…cop flagged me down just up the street.

He was very nice about it, could tell I was scared/shocked. I did not cry but I wanted to LOL!

  40. Eric says:

I have heard this on the John Tesh radio show.

Never try to talk your way out of it because the cop has heard it all. Trying to lie and make an excuse won’t work.

Say to him “I have no excuse for speeding. I know I was going too fast I had momentarily lapse of judgment. And in the future I will do my best to better obey the speed limits.”

Also be pleasant and smile. As hard as you try in the end you may still get a ticket.

  41. SillyMonkey says:

I’ve only ever had 1 speeding ticket. I didn’t try to talk my way out of it. I was as guilty as hell and I knew it. I knew how fast I was going and didn’t try to play stupid. It was my fault as it was my foot on the pedal. I can’t say I would ever blame a police officer for my wrongdoing. When are people going to take accountability for their actions?

  42. Janie says:

I log on this morning, see this new blog post and couldn’t feel more justified to my comments in the other blog she wrote.

Again another offensive and meaningless article with her complaining about something and to top it off is extremely rude to the readers of Smart Canucks in the comments section. I do believe that is exactly what I was saying in her last blog. Funny.

I just don’t understand why they continue to let her post here and have a voice here. It’s baffling. She is rude and self righteous to people in the comments section ALL THE TIME! You would think people who are allowed to post their articles here would have to be hold to higher standard on what you write, and how they talk to people. But that’s just my opinion. Maybe she’s related to someone?

  43. anon mom says:

People, chillax! There is nothing wrong with bitching about getting a speeding ticket. Free speech folks! If you don’t like it, don’t read it!

I agree with your sentiments SmartCanuck gal. It sucks, try to fight it – doesn’t hurt. You may get the points taken off at least… I’ve done that many a time!

  44. Janie says:

@anon mom You’re right there is nothing wrong about bitching about getting a speeding ticket. Maybe on forums, facebook, to your friends, family, whoever will listen. HOWEVER, this is what is on the FRONT page. Someone bitching about a speeding ticket while calling it a pigmobile. If I said to my mother in law, hey you should check out smartcanucks it’s a site to go to for all the latest deals, I would be embarrassed for her to see that as her first read on here.

  45. noname says:

this is his/her blog… period. if you don’t like it, don’t read it. every person has their own right for opinion.

as unclassy as it sound, i have to agree some cops are just hiding in their so called “pigmobile” hunting for preys.

if you break the law, then you deserve a ticket. but sometimes, you don’t even break the law but the cops think you did. how are you going to fight it if you don’t have enough evidence?

i got a ticket once for failing to stop on a stop sign. the real deal is, i stopped but only for a brief sec. i wasn’t able to fight it coz i don’t have witnesses. now tell me that’s fair. for the days that passed, i never see a single car stop on that sign, and there weren’t any cops around…

  46. Louise says:

How do I know i don’t like it if i don’t read it?

  47. marie says:

I got one speeding ticket when I was about 18 years old. I had been driving for 2 years and to be honest I was constantly speeding. The time I got caught I was going about 120 on an 80 road. So yeah, I deserved it.

The other ticket I got was in Toronto. I did a left turn at a stop sign (not a light, a stop sign!) in a completely residential area. The cop was waiting right there, total trap. Apparently you couldn’t turn left at that particular stop sign between certain hours. Total bullshit. It’s not like I didn’t do my stop and wait and all. It was 100% safe and there wasn’t any traffic. My cousin was with me and we drove back on the road, and there wasn’t even a visible sign saying you couldn’t turn left. It was half hidden by a tree. I WOULD have contested it, except that it was my last day in Toronto and I was coming back home so I just paid it. That ticket DID feel like it was just a way for them to make money.

  48. TheDoctor says:

Here’s a tip: Speed limits are posted and if you follow them you won’t get a ticket.
    You’re welcome.

  49. Amy says:

” And it’s not as if cops have never heard these terms before, they all know how they are perceived by the public.”

That’s a generalized statement. Not everyone perceives the police as “pigs.” I have never understood the hatred some (not all of the public) have towards the police. Racial profiling, corruption, we’ve heard it all – but at the end of the day, they are the ones who reach you within minutes of your calling in an emergency situation. And even if a fair amount of them have the job description of pulling over people who speed, don’t forget that the majority of them put their lives on the line daily.

And if your attitude towards the police officer is/was anything like the tone you take on your off-topic and always demeaning-in-one-way-or-another posts, I’m not surprised you didn’t get out of it.

  50. jayne_a says:

I have never gotten a ticket before, I have been stopped at the regular checks; where they check every car that turns on that street for seat belts, having a license, drinking etc. but never for anything like speeding. And no i don’t speed EVER, I think it is dangerous. they are called speed limits for a reason. I don’t live in Ontario, so i don’t know how things work there, but in Sask I am a platinum driver. I have gained more points than i can have in discounts. (max 20% discount) I think if you are gonna speed you deserve that ticket, if your in an accident that’s your fault you deserve to pay more and/or loose your license. This is just my opinion.

  51. Denise says:

I got pulled over for speeding ..and well much to my surprise ..the cop bought my story ..i expained to him that i have a fuel injection probvlem and hence the going extra quick to try to get my vehicle up to speed and have it remain at that speed..i was 30 over the limit listed and he dropped it down to 10 over .. cost me 20$ but made no difference on my insurance at all …. i do believe that you do get further with honesy thanwith venom… but sometimes some cops are just not easy to deal with regardless …:))

  52. Lana says:

Do the crime, pay the fine… or in more serious cases… do the crime, do the time. It’s black and white.

It’s kinda like people who drink and drive… it’s okay for you to do it… but the moment a drunk driver hits your child walking home on a sunny afternoon, it’s not ok.

  53. Denise says:

Stephanie ..wow there are some anal retentive types on here eh ??? LOL I never though there were such perfect drivers in the world but apparently your blog has attracted some of them ..lol I prefer the “if you have nothig good to say ,say nothingat all ” type myself … have a good day Steph !!!!

  54. nisiepie says:

stephania, why are such a waste of space?

  55. Eva says:

WOW, all those people that are preaching about speeding, give me a break, if you say you have never sped then you are all so dishonest..we all speed at some point or other and we dont intend to be reckless. those of you that dont speed ( or say so ) ARE PROBABLY the ones that are talking or texting whilst driving, and the * pigmobile * comment, well she was frustrated at the cop and again we have all maybe thought of such comments.people should lighten up a little and those of you that live in glass houses should not throw stones.

  56. Jessica says:

Read the title, if you don’t like it, skip and move on. Posting comments about how much you ‘hate whiners’ is just as bad as the ‘whining post’ itself. You’re basically whining about the whiners.

  57. Dawn Marie says:

I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket before..only pulled over once for apparantly going through a stop sign(which I didn’t). The cop was two blocks down and couldn’t prove it anyways so nothing happened… But…have you ever tried going the posted 100km/h on the 401 or any other major highway!?! That is a great way to cause an accident! The majority of people are going 110-120km/h and that’s the flow of traffic! You could pass a police officer on the side of the road at 110 while the flow is doing that speed and he wont move. It’s the ones that are doing an excessive speed, like say 130 or 140 that he’ll take off after. So yeah, speeding does kill…and you deserve the ticket. But going a snails pace is just as dangerous. Stick with the flow and you’re okay.

  58. caroman says:

You deserved what you got. When I was caught speeding I was rewarded with a $170 speeding ticket. Didn’t like it but it’s the law and I was speeding.
    P.S.
The ‘pigmobile’ part of the post is rude and unnecessary

  59. TheDoctor says:

@Denise “I prefer the “if you have nothig good to say ,say nothingat all”
If that were the case Stephania should have kept the post to herself and, frankly, wouldnt that exclude your comment too? Negatvie rants produce negative input.

  60. Reality Check says:

This is real life people! People speed, sometimes it is unavoidable… quit judging, you are not perfect either. I am houdini when it comes to speeding tickets… I usually throw in a few tears (actually one time was way more then a few tears), a small, sad story and I am off. I have had multiple warnings and a couple downgrades to dumb $25 tickets and no effect on my insurance. I have never had a speeding ticket in nearly 9 years of driving.

  61. OMG says:

WOW.. everyone that has written that this blog is offensive must be god sent.. oh wait you must be the jehovah witness knocking on my door because your perfection in the world illuminates! GET A LIFE and let people have thier own opinion. If you want to comment on what the actual question posted was then fine. If not, then leave it alone and move on.

  62. tnmo says:

I received two traffic tickets that are not speed related (disobeying the signs) in the space of 2 weeks…I was totally PISSED and hated all cops for about 24 hours after, but totally guilty in both instances. Both times, both cops told me the exact same thing without me even prompting them – “Meet me in court hun, I don’t want you to get any demerit points and I’ll work it out with the judge to reduce your fine”. My interpretation – either a total money grab or them just trying to fill their monthly quota. They were both sympathetic, and as mad as I was it was still my fault when it boils down to it.

Therefore Stephania, if you get a speeding ticket and you legitimately committed the crime, by all means try and talk yourself out of it (my boyfriend has done in 5 times successfully) but if that fails, suck it up & move on for goodness sake. Next time you’ll be that much more careful. It’s ok to whine & complain; nobody gets a $110 fine & feels like sunshine & rainbows right after; but you did the crime so pay the time. Oh, & those cops in their ‘pigmobiles’ that you were talking about? Next time you have to dial 911 (and I don’t wish this on you or anyone by any means) you better hope that that pigmobile can get there fast enough to help you.

I personally don’t mind the off-topic posts, that’s what separates Smartcanucks from all the other drab deal sites but you’ve GOT to think about your brand and reputation – just as easily as you gained a strong online presence & daily traffic is as just easily as it can just poof and disappear. Everyone is allowed to speak their mind, as controversial or sensitive as the issue may be. Just don’t be down right insulting & expect people to ‘lighten up’ without a fight. Genuine acceptance of a mistake and apology doesn’t mean you lose – it just means you’re grown enough to accept that sometimes you are wrong.

  63. dandelion says:

I don’t care that this is an off topic post…it gets people discussing which is the point I gather…I don’t however know why ppl need to be insulted…seriously a pigmobile? there are many derogatory names out there that specific groups are well aware they are called…that doesn’t make it ok to be so judgemental…

As for the topic at hand I am in no means a perfect driver…I speed from time to time….that doesn’t make it right on my part or anybody else’s just because we all do it… there’s speed limit signs and laws and the police are just doing their jobs…

  64. Dale says:

Most speeding tickets have little relevance to public safety except in school zones. The rest of them are a revenue stream for government. Far more accidents are caused by lousy drivers, impaired drivers, and people who spend more time looking in their mirrors than ahead of them. I received a ticket recently for being modestly over the speed limit that changed 4 TIMES within one short construction zone. It went from 50 to 30 to 40 to 30 kph. Not kidding! The municipality should have been fined for being idiots.

  65. Funkymunky says:

    here we go again!

  66. “Pigmobile” was unnecessary.

Having a writer throw her rude .02 in, is a great way to lose advertisers on the site.

  67. Lighten up ppl says:

You guys need to lighten up….I hate a speed trap more than the next person. But honestly Cops are the worst for speeding they do it all the time, I dont know how many times cops have sped by me doing at least 20 over the speed limit….And they dont get tickets when they are in there cruisers..

  68. Lauren says:

I agree what an offensive post. I thought this was a deal, contest, freebie site.
I’m RCMP and I find your ignorance disgusting. I’m glad you got a ticket!

  69. Mara says:

I’ve never had a speeding ticket because I don’t drive, I find it expensive and a way to get a lot of money out of people. I’m still in school so right now I don’t have 1. The cash to buy a car. 2. Money for licence/registration that has to be renewed. 3.Gas. 4. Parking. 5. Money for repair. 6. Money to pay ticket for not having a licence, lol. It just makes more sense to save my money and go with public transit which is more sustainable anyway. Even though it sucks depending on buses and taking an hour to get to school and work. Plus I have panic attacks which probably wouldn’t be to safe if I had one on the road. >.<

So I got no tips of how to get out of one, except maybe puppy dog eyes might help.

As for the pigmobile I can only blame the simpsons here, I think they created that stereotype. As for having police officers in the family…What does that have to do with anything? Sounds like it would be acceptable if you didn’t have officers in the family. Just saying, using that as a sob story doesn’t work. People take things so personally

  70. Steffe says:

I can’t believe the reactions of alot of people on this blog. Wow, if it were in a forum this would most certainly be reason to be banned.

I have received 3 speeding tickets and haven’t gotten out of one of them but would love to hear the story of someone who has.

I would also love to read a blog post from the haters out there on how you lead perfect lives and NEVER break the law.

  71. DJ says:

I couldn’t say it better “OMG” lol

  72. Jenny Jones says:

No speeding tickets yet.. so i haven’t had to talk my way out of them (if that is possible). But yes i must admit I’ve gone above the posted limit in my life. Although my mother ALWAYS ALWAYS drives five kms under the posted limit (very annoying) I guess shes balancing out all the speeders out there 😉

As for the ‘pigmobile’ comment when I was in grade six i participated in the VIP program where police come to the school and try to guide your ethical compass. I remember CLEARLY when they came they told us “PIGS” is not an insult it stands for “People In Government Service”. I don’t know if that is true. But it isn’t half as insulting if you look at it that way.

  73. noname says:

i agree, cops don’t obey traffic rules on non-emergency situations either.

  74. thatgengirl says:

I completely agree that “pigmobile” was rude, offensive and not in the best interest of Smartcanucks.

  75. Wow says:

I am completely disgusted by what this blog has become. Stehania is really the only one who posts these off topics, I have yet to see her post anything useful!

As for the pigmobile comment…how can someone who represents this site be allowed to be so demeaning? I mean, its just as bad as calling someone the N word, or any other derogatory term.

It’s an offensive word, even if it doesn’t offend EVERYONE, it does some.

I don’t know how these posts do not get removed.

  76. Denise says:

so is there a coupon say 20 dollars off every 40 dollar speeding ticket ..this is a coupon site ..lol just saying !!!!

  77. Jennifer says:

Well now, I only read the first few comments but seriously ppl give the guy or gal a break! ppl spead all the time and guess what I can almost bet it was mabye 10 over, you try merging onto a Toronto hwy slowly and see what kind of accidents that causes!!

Anyways, I myself have never got out of a ticket but I can tell you my MOTHER was the master! I have seen her get out of tons of tickets over the yrs…my fav was when we just moved to Nova Scotia at the time and she gave him a huge sob story about being stressed and lost and he let her off! That was one of many, but I myself have gotten one, going 10 over in hamilton 🙁 It sucked he was pissed and was not letting me off that was for sure!

  78. Rah says:

OMG. WOW.. everyone that has written that this blog is offensive must be god sent.. oh wait you must be the jehovah witness knocking on my door because your perfection in the world illuminates! GET A LIFE and let people have thier own opinion. If you want to comment on what the actual question posted was then fine. If not, then leave it alone and move on.

I don’t mind this blog and do not find it to be offensive… but you are being offensive. Do some reasearch before you go bashing Jehovah’s witnesses. Clearly you do not have the proper education on Jehovah’s Witnesses! They are not perfect, nor do they claim to be.

  79. why? says:

Why is it that our comments on the post are being deleted, yet the OP can is allowed to post derogatory comments??

This site will preach freedom of speech to defend the blogger, yet we are not extended the same courtesy. Our opinions are quickly removed from the site!

The blogger hates kids, wants bullied kids to just “ignore” it and now calls police officers who serve and protect us “PIGS”?

Sure makes this site look fantastic!!

  80. Sakura says:

For everyone who said as long as you drive under speed limit you’re fine then that is ABSOLUTELY wrong!!

My parents went to Toronto for vacation a couple years ago. Not knowing the directions and a gps, they drove slow to try to read all signs and not to miss their exit. They were driving 60-65kmph on the highway where the speed limit was 80kmph. and know what? My dad got a ticket for driving TOO SLOW on the highway!!!??? My dad has never gotten a driving TOO FAST ticket, and yet got a ticket for driving too slow? Yes, I would think cops in Toronto just try to find every single way to make some money.

It seems like so many people on this forum is simply anti-Stephanie, no matter what she posts. If this is her personal blog, then there’s no problem but since it’s forum front page then it’s a problem? People could choose not to read it or reply. There’re not as many replies for the normal deals posts though. I guess it’s her posts that drive up the traffic?

  81. dizzyb says:

    *sigh*

  82. :) Monica :) says:

@ The Doctor – you said it best!
Stephania you write stuff like that just for the reaction that you exactly got! Your probably laughing your butt off while others take this seriously and are obviously offended by it.
    no class to you Stephania.

  83. Theresa says:

In 19 years of driving I have been pulled over a few times. 3 times I was given a warning. That being said, I have had to pay tickets a few times too. I never tried to talk my way out of one, they just gave me a break. Nice. I don’t speed anymore, no where I need to be is that important.

I think if you are speeding you should just pay the fine and get over it.

  84. B... says:

Steph’s just a very immature idiot…can we just keep it at that?
    IGNORE IT!!!

  85. nonsense says:

I must say I am really surprised at the attention this blog is getting. After reading some of the comments I came to a conclusion that a lot of people posting are self righteous. Why chastise the poster because she is upset over a speeding ticket. So she refereed to is a pigmobile. So what, get over it. Ohh you have a cop in the family, so you are offended. Cry me a river.

  86. KM says:

I visit this blog to look for deals. While I don’t mind the occasional off-topic post, I am completely offended by this one. I don’t think you would refer to an officer as a “pig” if he were coming to save you from a murderer. Police officers put their lives on the line every single day for people like you and this is unfortunately, the thanks they often receive.
Perhaps you should google the tragic incident this summer involving the death of an officer from York Regional Police before you make such rude and unecessary comments. His family is left without him.
Also, you broke a law. There is a consequence for this. The law is the law.
I would agree with the other commenters who have requested that this post be removed.

  87. JMK says:

What a terrible post! I do not come to this site to read tasteless posts about someone who got penalized for breaking the law. “Pigmobile” Really?!

  88. noname says:

they post what they want on their blog… period

  89. Crystal says:

You have to plead your case before he writes the ticket.

That said, please don’t speed. It only takes a second to lose control and change/end an innocent life. I get so angry when I see cars speeding around in and out of traffic and I have my precious children in the car. It’s just not worth saving the extra few minutes.

  90. Heroine says:

Every time I read one of Stephania’s entries I think, “Troll! In the dungeon! Thought you ought to know”. You’re so successful at it!

  91. again with this? says:

If this was a thread in the forum, it would have been shut down a long time ago.. it never should have been started in the first place. I took a glance through Stephania’s blog – disgusting. Suck it up and pay the speeding ticket.

  92. Reality Check says:

    B… says “Steph’s just a very immature idiot…”

Name calling is not a sign of maturity my friend…

  93. Ashley says:

Wow really? “Pigmobile”…that’s incredibly offensive to all the men and women who put their lives on the line everyday to protect our communities.

You were speeding, and got a ticket…get over it!

By the way, your insurance doesn’t automatically go up for 3 years. It depends on your insurance company, your record and if you have other tickets in the past 3 years.

  94. TallNFunny says:

Come on people. I think we know by now Stephania writes controversially on purpose and likes the attention. Stop feeding her.

  95. sarah says:

wow Stephania. I just hope you’re never in a situation where you have to call 911 cos you know, some pigs are going to have to come to your house if you’re being burgled or something.

    Disgusting blog post.

  96. Theresa says:

Wanted to add, I think that once they type in your info they do have to issue the ticket. A firefighter I know was pulled over a few months back. When the police officer saw his licence classification he asked about it. When he learned he was a firefighter he said “you should have said something.” He told him he had already typed in his license plate number and had to give a ticket, but lowered the ticket. So…long story short, I think they do have to follow through.

After the senseless, tragic death of Constable Styles in York region, I would think that a little more tact regarding police traffic stops might have been nice, but posting about speeding in general, nothing wrong with that.

  97. MOrganmom2 says:

I hope if u ever seriously need help and have to call the cops you then call them pigs. I am married to a police officer and he is doing his job like anyone else. You speed you take the risk! Why didn’t you call him pig to his face if it’s such an accepted term! You need to remember that everyone has a job to do to feed their family and no one deserves to be called offensive names like I’d like to call you right now but won’t. I joined this forums for deals/coupons ect. Not to bash people .

  98. Slamjam says:

You guys really need to chill out!
I agree with all the comments that state if you haven’t sped in your life, you are LYING. You guys are trying to make yourself out like angels. Speeding, isn’t really that bad. Sometimes these cops let people go 5-20KM over the speeding limits, other times they wait to bust you. So how the hell do you learn what is right and what is wrong.

Have you ever J-walked? Then you are a criminal!! Should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law each time you crossed a street not a proper cross walk.

And all these “police” that have a job to do for the community, the province, the country that represent their colleagues across the WORLD are the same ones that TOOK away every one of our rights of being a citizen during G20! Don’t ever forget those 2 weeks in 2010.

They abused their privileges. So those ones are PIGS..and actually worse than that!

Not all cops/police are bad PIGS but some are. Don’t forget it.

  99. Brett says:

You people seriously need to lighten up…relax
This blog post was just an opinion and when I read it I did not think she was being offensive, she was just giving her opinion and adding some interesting and humorous terminology along with it.
The comments that people are posting in response to it are mean and rude…grow up…its just a blog

  100. Y says:

Pigmobile is kinda rude… P.S. Who made you admin or whatever so you can post stuff here? I kind of couldn’t care less about speeding tickets on a coupling site. Please create your own website so you can discuss as you please!

  101. Y says:

    Couponing

  102. B... says:

ok,what I meant was “All of Steph’s posts are idiotic”…
therefore, they must be coming from an “Idiot”

  103. Dissapointed says:

Personal responsibility, your doing it wrong.

I find it funny that this writer is so upset and righteous when it comes to grey areas of the law like eating food in the store before you pay for it, the conseqeunce of which at most is possibly higher prices due to shrink, yet indignant at being punished for breaking a black and white law like speeding, the worst conseqeunce of which would be of course death or injury to herself or other people.

“everyone”may or may not speed but the fact is you know it is against the law so when you choose to do it you know you are risking a ticket in the least. I try to teach my children this concept when say…they know if they lie they will recieve a consequence soif they lie they are taking the chance and they ae accountable for the punishment not me.

Those cops in their “pigmobiles” see death and tragedy as a result of unsafe driving and other things all the time. Being angry doens’t excuse insulting the people who deal with that and more on a daily basis PUBLICLY because you dont like the results of YOUR choices.

Personally Im ashamed thinking of the people I have referred to this sire coming here and seeing things like that.

By the way there is no safe time to speed. You never know if the next driver around the corner will be drunk or otherwise put you in danger and your ability to react quickly will mean the difference between life or death.

  104. benji says:

How SmartCanucks allows this immature and insenstive writer to post on their behalf is beyond me. If she wants to spew her venom on her own blog, fine, but what she wrote is childish and self-righteous, and I don’t think it represents the SmartCanucks image.

Off-topic posts are fine, but I think you should be ashamed of this one, Smart Canucks. It demonstrates lack of accountability and lack of respect for the public’s safety.

This entire thread should be deleted.

  105. Dissapointed says:

By the way the “my sister is a Cop so it’s okay” is the same argument racists use. I can call people the N word cause I have a black friend! I can’t be racist my brother in-law is black!

  106. Cassie says:

I personally have never gotten a speeding ticket, but i think alot of people here are major straying from the main point here… so0o0o0o many people are getting all offended because she used a term that offended some. who cares?? who said that you had to read what she wrote? who said that you needed to agree with her? everyone is entitled to their own opinions and if you dont like it, then dont read it.
i have a few friends that are cops and i call their cars the pigmobiles too, and so do they… they take pride that they are officers of the law. they dont need to worry about stupid little names that people come up with.
at the end of the day all that really matters is that people have their own opinions, we dont have to agree with them, but we really should try to respect everyone on this site, wheter we agree with them or not. there is no need to call her or her blogs stupid. she has every right in the world to post whatever she wants to, even if you dont like it!

  107. Julie says:

Well said Slamjam!! *two thumbs up*
As for this issue, everyone has their own opinions but no need to stab each other with hurtful comments. Chillax~

  108. Julie says:

PS. I also don’t find the blog post offensive in anyway. However, I do feel offended reading some of these comments. Wow, you guys are mean!

  109. thepixie says:

I have to agree with Janie (and SO many others who have posted similar comments):

“If I said to my mother in law, hey you should check out smartcanucks it’s a site to go to for all the latest deals, I would be embarrassed for her to see that as her first read on here.”

I respect that the author is entitled to free speech, but there is a time and place for everything. This post is inappropriate for this site – especially for the front page. If you want to make these comments, fine, but why should they be posted on the front page of a deals website?

  110. Laura Williams says:

I am just LAUGHING IT UP right now. You’re really making my work day FLY by, ALL of you. You all need to get a serious grip… she obviously was frustrated when she wrote this blog and everyone seems to be jumping down her throat. You my friends, need to give your heads a good shake and ask yourself why you’re letting this get you in such a tizzy – especially those who are continuously replying. All I can say is that you are really entertaining, and this world is FULL of all kinds of people, all different personalities, morals, beliefs and though you may not agree with what everyone says or does, you still have to be civil and kind. No, the blog won’t be taken down because a couple of you have police officers in your family. Give me a break ladies.

  111. benji says:

Huh. My comment got deleted. Interesting.

The OP can call cops “pigs” but I call her immature and it’s deleted?

    Delete the whole thread then!

  112. benji says:

Ok, I take it back it’s not deleted. My computer is messed up. My bad. I’ll own that one. 🙁

  113. Jenn says:

I typically don’t comment, but this post was so egregiously bad that I had to. This post has managed to be both blatantly off-topic, offensive and to top it off it promotes illegal activity.

The owners don’t seem to give a sh*t and say ‘if you don’t like it, don’t read it’. Well I can say that you’ve succeeded, as I won’t be coming back – I guarantee I’m not the first reader (or the last) you’ve lost. For anyone else looking for alternatives, check out Red Flag Deals.

  114. Slamjam says:

    Bye Jenn..

    For everyone else.

Read this story and tell me what you call these police.

    http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h8idrILbXg6ptmVz-O23kgUHWZKw?docId=eaadb4ec5cd74054ac3e7acac2d6c0bf

I know this post was only about speeding..but come on people, don’t fool yourself! Yes the good die young, yes good police officers are killed during duty… This had NOTHING to do with that, enough with the defending of all police.

For all of you that suggested calling 911 and whatever else happens when someone who refers to the police as Pigs, hopefully one of the six in the above story answers your call.

And who on this forum doesn’t want to SAVE money!!!!??
Who wants to PAY for a ticket, higher insurance etc?

Who wouldn’t be upset when they get a ticket or any sort of fine that means more money out of your pocket.

Raise your hand if you smile when you get a fine of any sort.

  115. Anon says:

I can tell right away the posts that this blogger writes… I’m done reading them.

  116. LetItBe says:

Obviously no one here understands the PIG term origin and that’s fine. But perhaps the “officers” here, or the insulted family members/friends, should take the time to do a little research before flipping out.

PIG originally stems from LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) vehicles which blatantly displayed the acronym for Pride, Integrity, and Guts. They knew what civilians would then call them and ya know what? THEY DIDN’T CARE! Today, U.S police officers (who have a sense of humor and/or slice of wit) STILL get a kick out of that motto because they KNOW what it was MEANT to represent. So, before losing it completely on an emotional girl for referring to an officer’s vehicle as something an OFFICIAL PRECINCT intended it to be called in the first place, JUST THINK.

No use getting your panties in a bunch. No one said the police were worthless. But yes, traps are made…often; especially in the states or larger burbs here in Canada. It’s not a secret. If you’re a member of the police or friend/family member, you already know this. You may not DO it or have ever been a part of it. But it does happen.

BTW, this is not just a coupon site. This is a site for saving money. Asking for potential tips to get out of a traffic violation is, in fact, a way to save money…and a rather silly and comedic break for the day.

  117. couponfreak says:

I have never talked my way out of a ticket but I have got a warning once. And I deserved that ticket and did not ask to have it dropped I just did exactly what officer said and caused no problems even had everything ready before he got to the window. The officer who pulled me very nice and even warned me to slow down as here was another officer up ahead. Maybe if you were actually sorry for what you did showed some maturity he might have knocked some speed off still given you a ticket but not as bad. I will tell you tho if you asked if there was a way to get out of it you should thank your lucky stars that you weren’t given a second ticket (trying to bribe officer is really bad) Go ahead and try fighting it in court please post where you will be so we can all go laugh our asses off cause speeding up to pass is not a defense you might want to go with not so temporary stupity!

  118. Natalka says:

No, I haven’t talked my way out of a speeding ticket – the one time I got stopped, I was speeding – hadn’t yet slowed down enough from highway speed when approaching a town.
And sure, I’ve sped other times – but always cognizant that if I saw those lovely lights behind me, I’d be guilty of the offence.
That’s how you should look at it too. If you can’t afford the ticket, don’t speed.

Uh, and ‘pigmobile’ is terribly offensive, no way you can defend that…

  119. Gary says:

There is a 4 way stop sign right in front of our house and no one really stops there-they slow down and turn. So I complained and one day returning from work I saw two police cars handing out tickets to anyone who didnt stop-they were quite busy. They were also parked perfectly where they would catch people until it was too late to make an excuse.

There is also an elementary school that I walk my 5 year old son to everyday. But people like the blogger dont think its important in their life to stop at a stop sign or to obey simple road rules.

Here’s how to avoid a ticket “OPEN your freaking eyes and read the road signs and obey them”

  120. Michi says:

To “Wow…just Wow.” Your complaining that she’s being rude, yet you are posting comments such as “PS – I can’t wait until you need those police officers, and they take their time showing up in their ‘pigmobile’.” Isn’t that a bit rude there? You are basically hoping that something bad happens to her while they “take their time” which is so much more wrong than calling a cops car a “pigmobile”. Why is that so offensive? Do YOU design and manufacture the car? Its not exactly calling him a pig first of all. I’m sure plenty of you have been racist or sexist or discriminating at one point in your life so what difference is this to that? If I were a cop, I’d rather be called a pig than something racist, or something that would make fun of myself or my religion. Like, I haven’t agreed with some of her posts in the past but why is there need to bash her especially on ONE word.

If you guys really feel that way about her blogs why the fuck are you reading them in the first place? And why are you stalking her personal blog? Thats her life and she’s allowed to write whatever she wants so hopefully none of your negative opinions will matter to her.

  121. Michi says:

Everyone saying that she is wrong for speeding is dumb and if she can’t afford it don’t speed, well, I’m sure everyone can afford a speeding ticket…its the points that are actually the problem. I bet half the people saying not to speed are either hypocrites, dont drive, or don’t speed because they probably can barely drive as it is.

  122. marine says:

“pigmobile”!!!!!!! PLEASE REMOVE! This is offensive!

  123. Janie says:

Wow Michi, that was really well thought out. Your way with words is inspiring. You should see if you can write blogs on here too.

  124. rob says:

I have never been pulled over yet, but my friend got a warning for driving too slow, he was going 115 in the fast lane near Toronto

  125. Michi says:

Also to add, I’ve seen cops go 140+ weaving in and out of traffic for fun and going up people’s asses for fun as well. Like, they can give however many tickets they want to whoever they want but it is “COMPLETELY WRONG” to call their car a pigmobile? Really? … Like, they give us tickets, we call them whatever we want. They dont give a fuck. So why should you?

  126. Michi says:

Wow Janie, maybe I should since I can inspire you so much! Like…cut the sarcasm what is wrong with half of these people.

  127. Funkymunky says:

    Pigmobile Pigmobile Pigmobile!

anyone have a heart attack over it yet? 😀

  128. helpit says:

I never, like, NEVER agree with Stephania’s posts, but, on this one, the commenters who sound so holier than thou, c’mon, everyone speeds! Don’t even try saying otherwise. You’d spend 80% of your time looking at the speedometer and 20% on the road so you don’t break the law, so, everyone can relax on that account . And again, I never agree with her, but, she said this was her 2nd speeding ticket in 3 years… she’s hardly a speed freak!
And regarding pigmobile… ugh! I was wondering if this was a nod back to the 1970’s or if she was an inmate at a prison somewhere… doubtful on both accounts, so, I think pigmobile was a joke that has fallen flat here… It reminds me of people who say “its better than crack!” and I’m pretty certain they’ve never tried crack, so, again, guys, relax!
Can’t believe I am writing a post defending her!! Maybe pigs flew! haha…

  129. Jolene says:

I think you received what you justly deserved. I also think you sound like spoiled teenager.

  130. Janie says:

Well Michi when you call people dumb what kind of response do you think you deserve? You threw the stone calling people dumb & betting they could barely drive as it is. So don’t be acting all holy then thou now.

  131. Jessica says:

HAHAHA this site keeps getting funnier, all you ppl who love to complain about her blogs WTF who cares. Cops have been known as pigs long before most of us were born and will be known as pigs long after we all die!…. roll with it! There are so many worse things that can be happening in this world and the police are busy hiding on the highways when they should be protecting the poor girl getting raped or what not around the corner! .

  132. moop says:

I am a police officer and wish this STEPHANIA be removed from SMART CANUCKS as she is an offence to the public and a disgraceful sl__.

  133. chow says:

Stephania must be 13 as my kids are more mature than that and are younger. She is a selfish, immature twit.

  134. Becca says:

@ Moop – wow, calling someone a slut, and advertising you’re a police officer? Yeah – that’s a bit ridiculous.

This post should be removed. It’s disrespectful to police officers – who are doing their job to protect – to call it a ‘pigmobile’.

I thought Smart Canucks had a little more ‘class’ than this; I was clearly mistaken.

  135. Mike says:

It’s Stephania again. Whenever I read an offense smartcanucks blog post(which doesn’t happen often), I find it’s written by Stephania. I read responses and found too many people agree with me, and then I read the poster. Yup, it’s Stephania again. From her first post to this one, it’s usually offensive, non thoughtful, ungrateful, or just not good in most senses.

Many people speed, but that doesn’t make it right. If you speed, don’t brag about it, because you sped. Just because many people don’t get tickets, it doesn’t mean anything. Just be grateful your speeding hasn’t hurt someone yet, and hopefully you don’t speed again.

  136. Theresa says:

Well Moop…you just did your profession a disservice.

  137. tee hee says:

i dont think stephania was trying to be offsenvie… i think it was just an attempt to be funny…

    …it was not.

  138. Reality Check says:

That’s nice Chow…. name calling is a sign of how mature you yourself are… grow up people

  139. Sherry says:

Cops can tell if you are from out of town by your license plate series (even if your plate is from the same province you live in). When I lived in a small town in BC, the cops would ALWAYS stop cars with out of town license plates if they had any excuse to. Better to piss of out of towners with tickets than the locals. So always be careful how you drive when you are not in your home town.

ok people need to relax. people speed all the time. going 10 or 20 over the speed limit is not going to kill anyone…get over yourselves and your “holier than though” attitudes”. Second off, I got my first ticket this summer after having a clean record my entire driving career. It was for a rolling stop. It was actually kind of pathetic….first of all, I understand why i got the ticket but a rolling stop is also not going to kill anyone. The cop was an idiot or maybe she was just new because she couldn’t answer any of my questions.

And lastly, get over the comments about how cops are awesome! I know cops who sell drugs…those aren’t exactly the most amazing people.

  141. cakemaker says:

There’s absolutely nothing ironic about you getting a ticket.

And to those saying that this is her blog, it’s not. It’s the Smart Canucks blog and she is simply a contributor (I use the term loosely).

  142. Janie says:

Ah yes, if only we all shared the same attitude as Jessica (post #135).

“Cops have been known as pigs long before most of us were born and will be known as pigs long after we all die!…. roll with it”

Can you imagine the kind of world we would live in today if we all shared this same sentiment? Ah well it was like this before we were born, who cares! Lord help us if she decides to enter into politics or worse… teaching!

Anyways, I do believe the actual point made by many is not the speeding it’s the fact that this kind of writing is splashed on the front page which means it reflects the community here.

  143. Chris says:

I had a cop let me answer a trivia question. If I got it right he would drop the speeding ticket. Lucky for me I got it right.

  144. Lori says:

When I read Stephania’s posts I always get a chuckle. When I read some of the comments, I always want to slap someone. Seriously???? You people come on here to look for something to b*tch about? If you don’t want to be part of the blogs…..GO AWAY! The rest of us, those with a sense of humour, appreciate the tongue in cheek posts. You can find a way to be offended by anything nowadays. Get over yourselves, some of us DON’T live our lives according to how YOU think we should.

  145. Samster says:

There was a cop who was so unfair and shallow.
I was with my boyfriend (he was driving) and there was a Ford focus following us bumper-to-bumper close.
Now the street we were on was like 80km then 50km right after a corner and the cop was standing a few meter after that corner.
My boyfriend and the Focus were pulled over, because we were doing about 70km at that corner.
When the cop was issuing my BF a ticket, I saw an another cop chatting with the Focus driver who was a pretty blond chick.
And he let her go with a smile!!!
Me and my BF were freakin mad and disgusted.
Sorry I guess my BF wasn’t pretty enough for our cop.
Yes we called the cop a pig when we talk about him.

  146. Sunday says:

I wanted to share my 2 cents for what it’s worth.

This website is called Smart Canucks not Stephania’s blog. So for those talking about freedom of speech if it were her blog I would agree. However this is supposed to appeal to all types of people looking to save a few bucks.

No one likes to be stereotyped. If this post made a “funny” about stay at home moms, black people, mentally challenged, young moms, single dads, teachers, accountants (I could go on forever) anyone who fits in those categories would be offended, you know you would! And it certainly didn’t help matters that Stephania is known for not having a filter.

Anyways, this isn’t my blog or even Stephania’s but for whatever reason Smart Canucks continues to allow Stephania posts and I guess we have to accept that. However, I for one have not frequented or contributed as much as I have in the past for this very reason. There are other sites out there for canadian deals and no nonsense.

  147. Sunday says:

P.S I just read a post above mine and I can’t believe it’s accepted to tell people to go away? Is this really how Smart Canucks wants to represent itself these days? I don’t care what side people are on, this is disgusting and it’s shameful this is allowed to stay on here. (whether you are defending Stephania or not)

  148. jeanine says:

Sorry, but I think most of you are being a little bit harsh here. Think about it. Most of you are here to try to get the best deal possible, whether you are “couponers” or savvy shoppers or what ever. She’s just a blogger. She got a speeding ticket and was just trying to get the best deal she could. Give her a break. I agree with others, can you really say you’ve never sped? And really, everyone should know that she’s one person, and this one person has a right to her own opinions.

  149. Oh gosh..not her again... says:

I didn’t really find this post offensive personally, but I find it hilarious how she thinks people are so uptight in the comments here and have a “holier than thou” mentality whereas in her last controversial post, SHE herself was the one that sounded like she was so much better than the THEIVES who would dare let their children snack in a store…quite funny.

She sounds like an extremely spoilt little girl who wants everything to go her way.
I don’t understand how she is still allowed to post on the front page with her attitude.

I saw that someone posted a link to her blog here, skimming through it I am even more sure of my opinion about her.
Let me post an interesting point of hers that may relate to her own posts:
“No offense, but why are there soo many f****** rude people online? They exist in real life as well, but they know better than to give me any sass ’cause I’d smack them upside the head!”

  150. Sally says:

Gosh, seriously remember all the jokes they made on Waynes world aboout cops… I smell bacon etc….

I removed the pigmobile comment. End of story.

I am tired of the useless fighting.
