Here are some ways to conserve gas…

With the prices of gasoline continuing to soar, we all have to find ways to make the gas last longer so that we don’t end up going broke!

1. Drive Less – Now, this is pretty obvious, but alot of people are still driving the same amount as they were when gas was cheaper. If the price of gasoline is killing your budget, cut out all unneccessary trips!

2. Combine Errands – Instead of running out a few times per week to run errands, try to do them all in one day at the same time. This will not only save you gas, but time as well!

3. Maintain Your Vehicle – Pump up those tires! Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage by 0.4 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires.

4. Drive Light – Remove all of the excess weight in your vehicle. An extra 100 pounds in your vehicle could reduce your MPG by up to 2 percent!

5. Cruise Control – This wonderful option that comes with most cars is ideal for helping you maintain a constant speed and will save you some gas.

6. Drive Smart – Avoid speeding and fast acceleration/braking. This can lower your gas mileage by 5-30% depending on where you are driving. Driving responsibly saves you gas and is also safer.

7. Carpool – Go grocery shopping with your neighbour and go to work with a co-worker. Anything helps. Split the trips each week and this will help save gas and money!

8. Take The Bus – If you are really trying to save money, take the bus instead of your car. Sure it might take you a bit longer to get where you want to go, but you will save buckets of money. Even just a few times a week would help!

If you are a motorcycle owner that needs to use premium fuel, one option is to use mid-grade fuel, and then add an octane booster! Whamo, a few cents per liter cheaper!

I dont know about everyon else but weve been doing all this stuff since it was over 1.00 a litre lol.

    2 more ways:
    – Get a Scooter…. $3-$5 for a full tank…. c`mon
    – ride your bike…. I do this all year round though

Bike is not necessary money saving. If you ride long distance, you’d have to eat more food for the energy. As expensive as gas is now, milk is still more expensive per litre against oil.

More importantly, you need to know your car’s km/$ and the value of your time ($/hr). Sometimes it is worth it to drive, sometimes it is not. If you make $40,000 a year; your time is about $20/hr before tax. i.e. it is not worth it to spend an additional hour on the bicycle just to save $10 gas. If you make less than $10,000 a year, then it is worth it.

Online shopping and have things delivered to you. Groceries store charge $10 for the delivery on average.

Very good point Adora, I do a ton of internet shopping because, I can get cashback through SC and the shipping is sooo cheap compared to what it would cost me to drive there. Im in a rural area, I can order a huge order from toysrus and only spend 8 in shipping, I couldnt drive there and back for less then 20!

What are the statistics?! 1 out of 8 people are obese? 🙂

HUH??? Are you actually saying that if I’m broke my time has less value than one who may make over 40 thou? So if you have the money you wouldn’t want to waste taking extra time on a bike say, but if you are unable to throw money around you should feel fine about using pedal power to get around? That reasoning leaves MUCH to be desired…

well its no fun if we aren’t going to continue the discussion…
