H&M X Versace: Will it be any good?

H&M has just announced that their next designer collaboration will be none other than Versace.

When I heard this news, I wasn’t overly excited because their previous collabs have been overrated, re: Madonna (boring in all-black), Lanvin (all Monets – up-close they were a big ol’ mess, tees were reminiscent of clothes from Chinatown), & Jimmy Choo (disappointment, shoes were cheap!).

Another reason for my lack of enthusiasm is that H&M always rolls out these guest-designer lines at certain flagship stores, downtown, so that means that I hafta haul my butt there, hours ahead of time, and stand in a line for mediocrity. No thanks!

SO…with that sort of history, there isn’t much Versace has to do in order to have a runaway hit. Due to the hype, these lines ALWAYS sell-out, but the question remains: Will it be any good?

Obviously, I don’t expect the pieces to be hand-crafted in Italy, but as you may know, there’s a fine line between the flamboyant styles of Versace and just plain ol’ gaudy. Think: Neon coloured, leopard print.

The ingredients are there, but they can be used for either good or bad!

For a sneak peek at Versace x H&M collaboration, click here. Aside from blacks + nudes, I certainly hope that it’ll feature a wider range of colours!

It’s H&M.. you get what you pay for! If you want Lanvin, buy Lanvin. If you want Choo, buy Choo.. etc.

Karl Largerfeld had a good collection non?
It was some time ago, but I quite like his collaboration.

You’re luckier than most to even be able to get to a flagship store.
    It’s H&M-what do expect?

I’m camping out for this collection I love Versace but can’t afford Versace prices unless it’s second hand vintage so I am excited to check out the H&M line there is a black dress I want and depending on how that nude dress drapes and feels I may go for it too.

Why anyone in his/her right mind would even stand in line for clothing is beyond me…. H&M is disposable clothing so why not spend it on something worthwhile like Canadian-made clothing??

I never attend those events – I bought a Choo studded cuff from eBay for cheaper then it was being sold in store (no idea why), and that was it!
I def didn’t like the Lanvin – dresses were not hemmed and t-shirts were very cheapy. I like H&M’s usually collections (the white collection from this year, the Garden collection from last year). A lot of the clothes is far from disposable.
