Holt Renfrew Canada is launching a new hr2 store in March, 2013. The retailer hopes to provide “new and unique designer product selection at great value”. The first hr2 store will open in Quebec at Quartier DIX30 with another location planned for Ontario in early 2013. Ultimately, Holt Renfrew hopes to expand to Calgary where they feel hr2 is a perfect fit among the outlet style malls and younger population.
Sounds like the HBC Designer Depot, which was a disappointment. It’s just a more expensive Winners.
Unless they can do what Target Australia do – getting high fashion designers to design budget fashion, I really don’t see how they can dominate with all the fashion stores we already have.
Doubt it’ll be anything spectacular. Holt Renfrew “Last Call” in Vaughan is a disappointment.
I’m gonna be a Debbie Downer here…what is considered to be a “deal” is very subjective and usually the people who shop at Holt’s thinks that $200 for a pair of jeans instead of $375 is a steal. So…seeing that I got my Miss Sixty jeans secondhand at Talize for $11.99, I doubt I’ll be impressed with HR2.
I think the only reason why holt is doing this is because they are afraid of competition since nordies is coming to Canada. Im interested to see how well they will do. Their “sales” are already a joke so this is another way to attempt to keep their stores alive.
I agree with all comments…Holt Renfrew is geared to the “1 %ers” – not your every day joe blow who has very little dispensable income to shop @ HR. Still be interesting to see what they come up with
