Nordstrom Coming To Canada!

Announcements

Yes, Nordstrom’s worst kept secret has finally been confirmed.

The first Nordstrom store will launch in Chinook Centre in Calgary in the fall of 2014, followed by Ottawa’s Rideau Centre and Vancouver’s Pacific Centre in the spring of 2015 and Sherway Gardens by the end of 2016.  So we have a while to wait, but I am excited by this, we need some more variety in our stores here.  At least three of the stores are currently Sears stores so the new Nordstrom stores will be fairly large.

I had hoped that the Rideau Centre location would become a Target…with the downtown Zellers closing and now Sears too, we’re lacking on houseware stores!

You aren’t getting a nearby Target?

Vancouver – not until 2015?! 2.5 years. That space is a huge part of Pacific Centre. Who pays the rent while it’s unoccupied?

Do you that your excitement of America companies coming to Canada is wiping out our Canadian companies? You love and want the American prices up here and that our stores are charging too much. That’ll NEVER happen! Guess what there’s a BIG difference in the cost of business up here. The pay in the US is much lower than here and we would our workers get more that the minimum wage that’s more here than down there. Then there is the cost of taxes for the businesses. There is cost of transportation, gas is more expensive here. There is the cost of everything is more up here than down there. It’s cheaper to live down there. We’ll loss the sale of Canadian products as they’ll only use their own (ie: dairy, fruits, vegetables, and any other products). It seems like you would like Canada and Canadian businesses to become American, guess what when that all hopes Canada isn’t Canada and we won’t be Canadian anymore. I’m all for sales and coupons but I don’t want we to loose our identity because too many people like you want American to give us theirs. If you, and others like you, keep this up you’re living in the wrong country, move.
