I HATE Value Village now, i bought 2 keyboards and they dont work and now i cant take them back, or get store credit, how bad is that.

SHAME on you guys for making a profit on things that dont work.

Hi Darcy, if you live anywhere near Cambridge, ON, I have 2 or maybe 3 keyboards that I believe DO work and you can have them for nothing, along with a few printers if you like (don’t know if they work or not)…I am presuming you are referring here to computer keyboards, not musical keyboards??

It might interest you to know that Value Village pays nothing for these items – they are donated – and they should have offered you at least a store credit. I worked briefly for the organization that supplies them with inventory through donations, and they are a particularly ignorant group of people. I would suggest you avoid the place in the future. Contact me at [email protected] if you want the keyboards. Thanks, Ray.

Also try freecycle and fullcircle (websites) I don’t know much about them but my friend uses them to both give things away for free here in kitchener waterloo as well as see what others have to offer for free – she gave away her really old computer and accessories not too long ago – but I’m sure there will be others!

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the response but i live in Saskatoon and i already bought a new cordless one for $14. I also used to work there and at the time store credit was still offered, and i know that they get things for free cause ive donated stuff to them. They should really test stuff before they sell them and if they cant test it they shouldnt sell it. THanks for the tips tho i appreciate it.

No credits but you can exchange for something else in the store. If you can’t find anything the day you want to return, you can ask for the manager to extend the return time for another week and come back to try again. With the sheer volume of items, testing is not likely possible nor profitable. So I guess the customer does the testing once they buy. Not great for the consumer but it does keep the prices down.

i give all the time to this place and now the prices are so high i don’t shop here anymore. too bad since they are a second hand clothing place making big bucks on donated items and hiding under the umbrella of the diabetes society, this organization should not allow there name to be associated with value village any longer and to heck with monies they recieve from them they are rip off artists, other second hand places are there to help people less fortunate not make off them!!!!
