OneDrive Canada Freebies: DropBox Users Qualify For 1 Year FREE of 100GB Space on OneDrive

onedrive

OneDrive Canada, the online cloud computing service from Microsoft, is offering all users of their competing service, DropBox, a 1 year subscription to Microsoft OneDrive for FREE with a bonus 100GB of storage.

The ad for this claims that it is only for U.S. residents, but I was able to go through the prompts and receive my free 100GB of extra storage for free. Keep in mind, however, that OneDrive is only offering this deal to the first 1o million recipients – which may seem like a lot, but you’d be surprised how fast people act when they hear the words ‘free’.

To receive the free 100GB of storage, you will have to prove that you actually have a DropBox account, which will be achieved through Microsoft sending a start-up package through your DropBox account; a pretty clever trick it you ask me.

Couldn’t get it to work, just comes up with an error message. Hope this isn’t a scam to get peoples passwords etc

Worked first try for me. I was logged into my Microsoft account already. It’s not a a scam 😛

I couldn’t get it to work either. Nice to know that it isn’t a scam, though.

Works for me – It took around a minute, since I was already logged into both my Microsoft and Dropbox account.

Thanks a LOT for posting this promotion, Johanna. Very useful.

    Worked for me!

I was able to sign up without even logging into Dropbox account. I just went through login page for Onedrive and it told me storage increased. I wasn’t logged into Dropbox at all (cookies cleaned in browser before that). So perhaps they are giving it out now to everybody and it’s just a marketing trick to draw people away from Dropbox and hit Dropbox directly before they offer 100gb to everybody. If it’s 1 year and after that you have to pay, they may offer same as Google, which is 1 dollar a month. Makes sense.
