As January rounds out the last few days of the month, it’s nearly impossible to believe that Christmas was now over a month ago and, for some of us procrastinators (*ahem myself included), we have yet to take down the tinsel and the holly from our mantels and our railings. Fret not though, as you can put away your Christmas decorations (finally) this weekend, and perhaps while doing so you can stock up and pack away some new stock for next year’s season with the last minute clearance deals going on at Walmart Canada.

Walmart Canada is currently selling their Christmas stock, which will include ornaments, wrapping paper, Christmas trees and even Christmas lights, that are up to 75% off the regular price! Within this sale, markedly one of the better items to purchase, would be this 7-ft. decorated noble pine tree which comes pre-installed with 250 clear strung lights all along the 700-tips of ‘fir’. Normally, this tree would cost you $188, but right now during the clearance sale at Walmart you can purchase it for just $44.

There are plenty more decorations to choose from within this Walmart clearance sale, whether you’re looking for something strictly Christmas oriented, like this Holiday Time tinsel Santa Hat (now only $7, was $14), or something a little less declarative, like a box of 100 mini lights (now only $2.25, was $9), you’ll be sure to find something.

Since it is so late in the game for post-Christmas decoration shopping, you may be a bit hard pressed to find everything in the Walmart sale online, as there is already a number of items with limited stock available. For instance, as of this posting, there were only a couple boxes of the 100 mini lights left and even fewer left of the multi-coloured sparkle light strings (25 bulbs), which are now 50% off at $10.50.

I find Garnier hair products to be great products for the price point, and generally prefer them to anything P&G makes.

VIA Rail Canada is having a discounted Tuesday special offer today, where you can save on select last minute routes if you travel by either Economy or Sleeper class. To take advantage of these savings however, you had better act quickly and plan even quicker since the special fare will only be available until 11:59pm EST.

You will also have to travel on or after Wednesday, January 28th and your return ticket must be booked with VIA Rail on or before Tuesday, February 3rd.

There is a select number of seats available at this discounted rate, but with a quick itinerary mapping out I was able to find a roundtrip ticket from Toronto to Montreal, booked in Economy, for just $88.14.

To give you an idea of what this trip would normally cost, I looked at next week’s fares for the exact same itinerary and this trip would end up costing me $42.94 more than if I booked the trip for this weekend; which is contradictory to the normal fashion, as when you book closer to your travel date it is normally more expensive.

Starbucks Canada Rewards Program members should check their e-mails this morning to see the specifically catered coupon that has been added to your account. This coupon will vary depending on what your status is, Gold or Green, and also upon what products you normally purchase with your registered Starbucks Card.

For instance, while I received an e-mail for my Starbucks Rewards Account for a 50% off coupon that can be used on any tea latte after 2pm until February 2nd, others have received different coupons for other hot beverages. Another example of the kind of coupon you could have received is a 50% off discount on any Americano you purchase after 2pm until February 2nd.

Since I regularly purchase Chai Lattes, I believe they have specially marketed my coupon to be in my interest – as your coupon will be to your personal preferences.
