This months Amazon DVD specials offer something that should appeal to two very different kinds of crowds;

Mother’s Day Sale: While it’s still possible to get some of these DVD’s in the mail in time to give them to mommy dearest, let’s be honest; this is a sale that will appeal to the fairer gender regardless of their motherhood status. 357 DVD’s on sale, almost all of which will make you cry. Everything from Jane Austen to romantic comedies to recent hits like Seven Pounds. Well worth checking out (even if only to stock up for Valentine’s Day, fellas).

Sci-Fi Sale: Finally, something for me and my geeky brethern to enjoy! 177 titles to choose from, many of which are TV box sets available for more than 60% off. Firefly, Buffy, Angel, Dark Shadows, X-Files, Dead Like Me.. The list goes on and on. Lots of good movies in there too (who doesn’t need a copy of Godzilla vs. Mecha-Godzilla?). Definitely one to get in on while the getting’s good.

What is Free Comic Book Day?

Free Comic Book Day is a single day – the first Saturday in May – when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE to anyone who comes into their stores. The idea is to get new people into comic books by giving them a chance to read a few for free! There seems to be a belief that Comic books are read mainly by geeky males. Whether this is true or not I don’t know but it reminds me of this scene from my favourite Sitcom, The Big Bang Theory 😀

I’ve never personally tried Left 4 Dead PC game, but I’ve heard it’s a pretty fun and addictive game. This weekend only Steam online has Left 4 Dead on sale for 40% off. Instead of $39.99 you can buy the game for only $23.99 USD.  Note that you don’t get the actual DVDs but instead you get to download the game from the Steam Canada servers. For most people with high speed Internet that shouldn’t be a problem at all. Left 4 Dead has both single player and multi-player modes but the multi-player modes seems to be what people love the most about it.

Considering that the coupons in the book  are worth a lot more then cover price, this is one awesome deal.
