For most people this is one of those YouTube videos that’s simply too much to believe. For me, it’s a part of my local heritage. You see, I live right alongside the Welland Canal, “where the ships climb the mountain.”  Too bad it’s motto isn’t “where the ships kick bridges @#$%s.”
Not too worry — despite the all-engulfing fire, nobody was hurt. Turns out it was the result of a sleepy (I think that’s PR code for drunk, but who can say for sure) bridge operator lowering the bridge too early.
Ever have anything horrific like this happen in your neck of the woods?

Just a heads up for our faithful gamers out there. Blockbuster will be moving all of it’s rental Xbox and GameCube product to “previously played” merchandise, and all new and used XB & GC games will be going on clearance for $1.99.
It was supposed to happen this week, but it’s been delayed to an unknown date. Still — considering the way these things usually go I’m sure it will be sometime in the next month. We’ll keep you posted as we find out more.
UPDATE: It’s been more than a month and the $1.99 that was delayed is still on hold indefinitely. That being said, all used Xbox and GameCube games have dropped to match the $4.99 price that the new product had dropped to a few months earlier. The vast majority of used PS2 games have dropped to this price point as well, with only a select few in the $9.99 – $29.99 range. Chances are we may not see this deal happen for a while, as the $4.99 product appears to be moving fairly well. Sorry to get everybody’s hopes up!

Ends July 25th while quantities last, spend 30 dollars before taxes on makeup or fragrance and receive a 15 piece gift set.

Just a heads up from a guy with a heavy heart. Toronto’s historic Funland Arcade is scheduled to empty it’s quarter boxes for the last time tomorrow. It was the last real arcade in the city — it was also one of the first having opened back in 1962. To put that into perspective, Sam the Record Man had opened across the street only a year earlier. It looks like there’s a pre-set lifecycle to landmark buildings on that block — 46 years and done.
I’ll be taking the trip into the big city tomorrow to take some pictures and shake some hands on Funland’s final day. If you see a robust gentleman with a Castro-style hat and beard, come on over and say hi.

This is the LOWEST price I have ever come across for the Nintendo Wii in Canada! And it includes free shipping!
If you’re planning on buying a Nintendo Wii soon this is the perfect time. You have 2 options depending on your level of “laziness” 😀
Option 1 ($249.99 from Amazon.ca)If you’re too lazy to go through any hassles you can go directly to Amazon.ca and get it for $249.99.
Â
Option 2 ($249.99 minus $10 coupon code)
You can easily save an additional $10 by signing up for a new Amazon.ca account instead of using your current one. For being a new customer, you can use a coupon code for $10 off.
Go to Amazon.ca and add the Wii to your shopping cart. Then say you’re a new customer and sign up for a new account. In coupon code area enter the code MAPNEWNCSAVE

Thanks Serra for suggesting this Children’s Place sale.
So apparently The Children’s Place is having a 50% off sale. Unfortunetly I don’t know which stores have this sale or when it ends. So make sure you give your local store a call before going all the way there.

Thanks Tara for suggesting this freebie 😀
Here is a great pet freebie from Royal Canin Canada, only good 10 more days until July 31. It’s for a free bag of Dog food for poodles.
