7 Eleven has the cheapest cell phone pay as you go plan out there. Purchase $100 of airtime (lasts for 365 days) and get a free Nokia 1600 cell phone. Here is a detailed listing of plan costs:

• No monthly system access fee
• $100 gives you 1 year of airtime
• Free Nokia 1600
• $0.99/month for emergency call service
• Taxes
• 20 cents / minute (deducted from the $100 of course)
• Total cost $114.00 (may vary from province to province)
• At 20 cents / minute you get 500 minutes and one year of airtime.

Also note that any 7 Eleven card, whatever its value is, gives you 365 days of airtime however cards have to be added to the account within 90 days of purchase or else they expire. So you’re better off buying 2 $50 cards and activating the second one after ~2.5 months 😉
