7 Eleven Canada: SpeakOut Wireless Cell Phone Plan

7 Eleven SpeakOut Wireless Cell Phone Plan7 Eleven has the cheapest cell phone pay as you go plan out there. Purchase $100 of airtime (lasts for 365 days) and get a free Nokia 1600 cell phone. Here is a detailed listing of plan costs:

  • No monthly system access fee
  • $100 gives you 1 year of airtime
  • Free Nokia 1600
  • $0.99/month for emergency call service
  • Taxes
  • 20 cents / minute (deducted from the $100 of course)
  • Total cost $114.00 (may vary from province to province)
  • At 20 cents / minute you get 500 minutes and one year of airtime.

Also note that any 7 Eleven card, whatever its value is, gives you 365 days of airtime however cards have to be added to the account within 90 days of purchase or else they expire. So you’re better off buying 2 $50 cards and activating the second one after ~2.5 months 😉

you said it is better to buy 2 50$ cards but tha is not true because a $50 card expires after 30 days and a $100 card expiares after one year.

  2. Boo Radley says:

The $50 card expires in a year I believe 🙂
But just in case, ask at the 7 Eleven store.

  3. Prue says:

    Wow that’s a great deal!

  4. JC says:

    Nice find.
How does this 20 cent per minute deal compare with other Pay-as-you-go plans in the market?

  5. Boo Radley says:

If Prue says “wow” to a non-Rogers cell phone deal then you know it’s really good 😉

  6. Bob Sakko says:

Same cost as Virgin Mobile on an annual basis if you use $25 cards that expire after 90 days. For very light users, like myself, the per minute charge ($0.20 vs $0.30) doesn’t make too much difference because I end up carrying over large balances each time I top up. This is a great deal primarily because you get a free phone, but not necessarily worth switching if you have a phone. Speakout also shares the Rogers network (GSM) which is a good thing too.

    Hi,

Thanks for posting, I picked this up today.

Does any one know if they do a per second billing?

    Thanks!

  8. JC says:

Neither links answer these questions of mine:

When does this sale expire? Will rate go up?
    Per second billing?
    Incoming calls free?

  9. JC says:

According to the unofficial customers’ site sitehttp://www.speakoutwireless.ca/, incoming calls are charged the same rate.

    It is per minute billing.

I was a 7 Eleven customer and have recently gone to Telus with HUGE regrets. I only ust the phone for important calls and emergencies, yet my $50 expired after 60 days with Telus…. What a rip off!! And they are 25 cents per minute. I’m going back to 7 Eleven with a big smile. It’s the best deal. Richard

I contacted our local 7 Eleven store and was told they don’t even have this promotion because there is such poor coverage from the carrier in this area. Is that possible? Who is the carrier? Or do they just not want to be bothered. I know nothing about cell phones or their mode of operation so rely on this site to give me some insite. Everyone I see has a cell phone here, so its not as though nothing works here. I am more confused now than ever.

  18. Ottawalady says:

The deal usually runs in September (Back to school) and at Christmas. Check out their website for more info. It is using the Rogers footprint.

  19. Sara Wells says:

Can you call to the United States on this phone and if so are the charges the same?

  20. Roscoe says:

Old thread I know, and I know they still have old phones
Pretty good though if all you need is a …phone?
Mines great, been swappin out the tiny Sim card between my other unlocked ‘phones’…they all work on the speakout network.
    Does the job.

babies and toddlers into sex objects. Available in two different scents’Rain and Lullaby, these
products are color, sulfate, and paraben free.
Anything related to do with jungle and nature has special attraction for all of us
and if we are able to find mythological animal costumes,
it will be an added attraction.
