KFC has launched its plant-based menu across Canada! After a successful pilot with plant-based partner Lightlife® in 2019, vegetarians everywhere can now experience KFC’s delicious taste at their local restaurant.
“When we tested Plant-Based KFC by Lightlife® late last year, we sold over a month’s worth of sandwiches in six hours,” said Samantha Redman, Chief Marketing Officer, KFC Canada. “Seeing the extraordinary demand for Plant-Based KFC, we worked quickly to bring these menu items to our restaurants across Canada.”
The menu options include:
- PLANT-BASED SANDWICH BOX MEAL: plant-based fillet coated in KFC breading, sandwiched in a potato bun, with lettuce and mayo, Plant-based Individual popcorn, BBQ dip, Regular drink & Individual Fries
- SPICY PLANT-BASED SANDWICH BOX MEAL: plant-based fillet coated in KFC breading, sandwiched in a potato bun, with lettuce and spicy mayo, Plant-based Individual popcorn, BBQ dip, Regular drink & Individual Fries.
- PLANT-BASED SANDWICH COMBO: plant-based fillet coated in KFC breading, sandwiched in a potato bun, with lettuce and mayo, Regular drink & Individual Fries
- SPICY PLANT-BASED SANDWICH COMBO: plant-based fillet coated in KFC breading, sandwiched in a potato bun, with lettuce and Spicy mayo, Regular drink & Individual Fries
- PLANT-BASED POPCORN BUCKET: 32oz Plant-based Popcorn Bucket, delicious bites coated in signature KFC breading
- PLANT-BASED SANDWICH: plant-based fillet coated in KFC breading, sandwiched in a potato bun, with lettuce and mayo.
- SPICY PLANT-BASED SANDWICH: plant-based fillet coated in KFC breading, sandwiched in a potato bun, with lettuce and Spicy mayo.
- PLANT-BASED SMALL POPCORN: Small Plant-based Popcorn,delicious bites coated in signature KFC breading

The Plant-Based KFC sandwich will be available permanently, while the Plant-Based KFC Popcorn will be available for a limited time while quantities last.
What do you think of KFC’s Plant-Based options?
so… now let’s just fry the heck out of plant based chicken?… I think KFC doesn’t get it.. It’s not healthier.. it’s still fried in bad grease. KFC in our regions have no sense of hygiene, floors are covered with crap, the cooks have no sense of not rubbing their noses before touching food ect. I’ve inspected a few and can say that while many fast food chains don’t have healthy food, they at least stay within the limits of hygiene standards, no one comes close to the low standards of KFCs for cleaning.
To be fair, I dont think the words “healthier” were ever attached to their promotions for this product line. But it does expand their market to vegetarians.
