The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recently placed an announcement out to recall all President’s Choice Moroccan-Style Hummus 280g containers that have a best before date of June 14th, 2015 and a UPC of, 0 60383 13387 0.
The recall on this product is due to the suspected presence of a dangerous bacteria called, Staphylococcus, which cannot be detected by smell or appearance in your hummus. The toxin cannot be removed from your food, even with extreme cooking temperatures. Should you become poisoned with this bacteria, common symptoms include: vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramping and fever. There are yet to be any reports of people becoming ill from these containers though.
If you find out that you have a spoiled container, be sure to throw it out or return it to the store where you bought it from.
