Rogers Communications Corp announced today that it will buy the CN Tower from the current owner, Canada Lands Company. Once deal is complete Rogers will rename the CN Tower to the Rogers Tower. This comes as Canada Lands Company faces major financial problems and struggles to cover the mounting CN Tower debts. Rogers Communications, the largest cable television company in Canada, has offered to rescue one of Canada’s most popular landmarks. In return Rogers expects to gain more positive publicity amongst Canadians by making its name synonymous with one of the tallest structures in the world and Canada’s prominent landmark. This marks the second Canadian landmark Rogers has acquired following its acquisition of the Skydome in 2005.

April Fools!
Yeah it’s a joke. The “more details” link doesn’t even lead anywhere but back to the mail SC page. You have to get up pretty early… oh wait it is early…..
Great story!
A benevolent(rescuing from financial troubles) BUT shameful(the renaming, I mean) job – but usual for the shameless big corp Rogers anyway (the Skydome) affair. And the despicable actions of the Canadian govt – permitting national heritages to b sold off! What a shame for the nation!!
I would have believed this, but then I remembered it’s April Fools Day!
Almost had me..I was about to post on Facebook and then went to google search to find a news station showing it. Very good prank.
Glad this is a joke. Rogers is a horrible company.
