It has been owned from day one by 2 guys from Michigan, Don Green and Michael Budman.
I love it when people think it’s a Canadian company.

Regardless of the nationality of its two owners, Root was inspired by an Ontario park and the first Roots merchandise was sold in Toronto. Sounds to me like the claim to “Canadian roots” is correct here.
