I was in Sears Appliance store tonight (they sell tvs, electronics, furniture, tools appliances etc) buying a new stove and they were just hanging up signs advertising that they will price match any USA Black Friday advertised price (normal price matching rules apply) This offer is applicable for November 26th and 27th! This is a great offer if your in the market for a Black Friday deal in Canada. This year it seems Candadian retailers are trying really hard to match the USA. It’s a win win for the Canadian economy!
But, how can I match the US price? Bring a US flyer??? I donot think I will drive the the States and take some flyers there…
You can just show them a flyer posted online and then theyll make sure its still available. They dont expect you to go to the states and get a paper flyer. lol.
That will be great!! But I really want a HDTV, maybe it is not in Appliance Store… Hope the electronics also have the same promotion~~~
Yes yes, our Sears appliance store carries lawnmowers, vacuums, washers, dryers, stoves, tools, tvs, blu rays etc!
Thank you very much for this tip. I am very excited, however a bit upset I just bought a blu ray player as a gift this afternoon! lol. anyways, is this Sears Home stores or just Sears stores in general? thanks
Only sears (usa) store only or any store in US store. we can do price match.
COOL, I just found one from dealsea.com, in sears-US, they have a 40 Inch Samsung LCD 60HZ for $498
http://dealsea.com/txt/sears-2010-p1.jpg
Hope we cann find the same mode in Canada
I dont know if its Sears dept stores. I was at the electronics/appliance one where they were putting up the signs. it said “any usa retailer” with flyer print out or ad. The best I can do is ask my husband to take a pic of the ad in-store tomorrow. I didn’t have my camera on me. Or you can call and ask your appliance store 😉
I am looking for washer which is $ 199.00 is it good price or that is regular price/
I saw this in the flyer that came today. I first saw the 30% off all kitchenaid and than saw the price match guarantee to include US retailers.
In small print under it it says “for televisions and major appliances, we will price match all items in this insert while quantities last. Other televisions and major appliances are excluded from our US price match.”
Than on the next page it says “simply present us with the copy of the advertisement showing that the item you want to buy is currently advertised in the US at a lower price. Once the associates that the item is in stock and available for immediate sale you will receive the price match discount.”
only in the sears flyer will be price matched… I do not think it will be some oppertunities for us to PM anyway…
Does anyone have a picture/scan of the flyer that says appliances will be price matched?
wonder if this will apply to mattresses? can someone post link to the sears usa flyer?
Which location had the sign? I’ve been calling around and no one seems to know about the US price matching. The flyer seems to apply only to those items listed in the insert. Maybe the sign says something different?
Today Metro news paper had sears ad. it is say we do US price match.
I can’t find any information about this on their website. Do you think they will price match something like a KitchenAid stand mixer pasta attachment?
thanks! hopefully I can find a paper this late in the day!
I’ve contacted Vincent Power, media relations for Sears Canada and the person who released the initial press statement. I’ve left a message detailing our confusion and asked him to call me back to clear things up for the 10,000 plus active Smartcanucks.ca shoppers. Let’s see if he does.
Here is the link to the flyer for Calgary, Alberta

I have spoken with Vincent Power, and he’s cleared it up for me:
1. TV’s and Major Appliance price match is limited to only those printed in the flyer. There are limited quantities, but the numbers are in the hundreds for each. This offer is good for Friday ONLY.
2. Everything else in store is price match-able to advertised US store prices. Clothing, jewelery, bags, small appliances, bedding, etc…
3. To qualify, it must be available at a walk-in retail store, no Amazon or Overstock type online retailers
4. Since we don’t have access to US flyers (this one made him pause) we can print out website copies of flyers or online advertisements, provided they state the item is available in-store at that price.
5. Allow the sales associate time to call and verify the item is in stock and on sale for that price – BE PATIENT! Black Friday is the most insane day of the year at US retailers, and they will be very, very busy.
This whole deal was created to prevent customers from driving to the States this weekend, so it has to be about what you could actually buy by setting foot in a competitive store in the US. Please do NOT take advantage.
I would really like to thank Mr. Power for taking the time to answer my questions even though I’m not part of the media. He was very polite and helpful.
Here is a great website that has scans of Black Friday flyers:
http://www.theblackfriday.com/
I was in store today and didn’t see any signs. I asked an associate and she showed me the flyer which only showed one washer/dryer set, a matterss, some TV’s and a few other items.
That was all that she was aware of. Seems this thing isn’t as good as it seemed.
Thanks to thatgengirl for getting the real story on this. Hopefully it will save us a bunch of hassle, although I find it interesting that this was brought up to avoid Canadians heading to the border – not really that great of a sale… still worth the drive in my opinion.
One question for “thatgengirl”
You said they need time to call and check if it is available in a US store – how many stores will the call? or just the most local? this seems like a big pain for Canadian stores
See the bottom of this scan where it says:
For Televisions and major appliances, we will price match all items in THIS insert (pages A-D), while quantities last. Other televisions and major appliances are excluded from our U.S. price match
All the flyer said that was being put up was ANY not just a few things. This like I said a few times wasn’t the sears department store. There isnt one of those withn an hour of me. This was the Sears appliance store in a small crap town, so no wonder dept. stores have no knowledge. Im thinking that the apppliance stores have different rules for this sale as even the associate hanging the signs told me there price matching ANY flyer advertised APPLIANCE
Whatever happened to a good old thanks for posting this rather then just tearing the whole post apart? Unfortunately I have the worst sinus cold ever so I wont be out until tonight and then Ill take pics of the poster.
Thats jen girl for clarifying a few things. This is a great sale Amanda, too bad your miniformed. This is a fabulous offer by a surprising merchant.
Hey Sally… Sorry if I seemed upset about you sharing this, it was not my intention – you were only sharing what you were told. It was not my intention to seem critical.
Everyone else…
That said, I found this link: (not sure how to make it link in here) with details on the sears.ca website

When I read the phrase
I think the confusion is in the phrase “To qualify, it must be available at a walk-in retail store” – that says to me – if I go to my Sears and it is in stock, I can buy it. Rather than, if the store that is having the sale still has some in stock, then they will match it! I am quite new at this price matching thing – so maybe this is just something I didn’t realize.
Its ok, Im a crab apple today. I do think that the sale is different from the appliance branches, dependant on how Im feeling ill try my best to drive to town and get a pic tonight.
I’m just confused by Vincent Power’s comment that this promotion applies to ‘hundreds’ of tvs and major appliances…as Amanda said, there are only a few items.
Thanks Sally for the post! For the items in the flyer, this is a great chance to save some money! Unfortunately Sears should have been more clear about the inclusions in the press releases.
He didn’t say it applies to hundreds of things. *I* was pointing out that the limited quantities are not, say, 3 of each. There will be plenty in stock for all.
But technically it does apply to hundreds of items, because he said that everything that isn’t TV’s or major appliances will be open to price-matching with a US flyer. Think toys, bedding, carpets, watches, etc…
Im headed out in a few to grab some pics, will be back before 10 tonight to post them. 🙂 erm thats if they turn out from the dark and the flash etc haha
that’s amazing! It’ll give us more leverage for the appliances not in the flyer. thanks so much!
How about just shop online?? lol….they ship for a flat fee now, and granted, you will have to pay duty, but in the long run, it might save you a HUGE amount of time at sears (granted if the have to call the stores in the states)…
I was at sears today in nova scotia, if you have a flyer (go to blackfriday.net to print them off) they will match an item they have in stock, the price matched a $1800 washer for $699.00, and a $999.00 dryer for $349.00
IF you have a flyer they will match it, it cannot be a online only sale it has to be a flyer, i used a best buy flyer from the states NO problems
Wow that is good way to save money.
Anyone manage to match any TVs from US Black Friday flyers to the Canadian Sears Black Friday flyer? I’ll have a look. Let’s do this and post it!
what flyer did you use you match the price of the washer & Dryer? I didn’t see that in the Sears flyer.
I just called to get them to PM a range from the Sears USA flyer and they would do it, but they dont have the same exact model number in Canada.
My brother needed a new washer/dryer and TV. They had a deal on a pair, that the store manager got out of by saying that model is only in the US. So they look at a TV. A 42″ for 479 or something. They were at the till ready to pay, and the manager wouldn’t allow it! My brother asked why not, because the the girl said it was in stock, but he told my brother he had 2 ways “to get out of it. First of all the on line ad was not good enough, he needed a flyer, and we’re out of stock.”
What a big crock of shit! They drove 3.5 hours to go there, and they were treated like absolute shit! How is that possible? Sears puts the ad out, and then they say they have ways “to get out of it”?
There is something seriously wrong with this picture!
Thank you for the auspicious writeup. It if truth be told used to be a enjoyment account it. Glance complicated to far brought agreeable from you! By the way, how could we keep up a correspondence?
