  1. Colsgirl says:

Thanks, I tried it using a Visa CC. The e-card has been received, just waiting to see how long it takes for me to get my gift card too!

  2. Mark Morissette says:

It’s nice to see that Starbucks Canada is finally accepting Visa debit, as the cards would not work for the longest time – I sent a gift card to my wife, but have not yet received the return gift card – I’m hoping it’s just a time delay issue.

  3. Eric says:

I just ordered mine, and it made no mention of a gift card for me too. If I don’t get one, it’s only $5 anyways

  4. amycanada77 says:

It says it’s not guaranteed you get a $5 card back yourself if they all get used up (20000 and its a done deal) hmmmm I sent one to my hubby so we shall see.

  5. linny says:

Do you know when they would issue the bonus $5?

  6. Brian says:

“You don’t even have to spend money”

What? You have to -buy- an eGift to get one back, so you do have to spend money.

  7. A says:

I bought mine this morning before lunch but still have not received the free e-gift card as of now.

  8. Gingergirl says:

I am not too impressed (yet) because it seems like maybe it didn’t work? Also so many instructions but not very clear

I sent one to my hubby and I think because I didn’t sign up before I processed the e card – it made no mention of a free card to me. So then he signed up and he sent one to me there was no mention of a free e card for him either, It seems kinda fishy they would say not guaranteed that everyone gets one! And they don’t say how it will be awarded so do we just wait or is it supposed to be instant?????

  9. BHL says:

“You don’t even have to spend money…”

“When you send a minimum $5 eGift …” — I missed the part how this is not spending money?

  10. Sandra5 says:

    From the fine print:
If you are one of the first 20,000 people during the Promotion Period to complete steps 1-2 above and meet these promotional offer requirements, you will receive a Promotional Gift. YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO RECEIVE A PROMOTIONAL GIFT.

  11. Well now StarBucks has my Visa card, great! I’m telling you right now: if I don’t get another $5 gift card in return, my woman and I are using that $5 and then NEVER GOING TO STARBUCKS AGAIN. Eat that viral marketing!

Also, for eBates users, eBates links to StarBucksStore.ca, which for some reason, is not StarBucks.ca (despite both being direct properties of StarBucks Canada), so don’t waste your time trying to parlay this offer using eBates: doesn’t work : (

Joking aside, thanks for posting this offer though SmartCanucks: always first out of the gate with these deals : )

    • RR says:

If you read the fine print for both:

      1) Offer ends on May 11th, 2014 or when all 20,000 promotional gifts are distributed.

Secondly, ebates.ca cashback is only valid on Starbucks Store Canada; that means egift cards are not valid, only Starbucks merchandises.

No need to complain. : )

    • Annie says:

Hi there! Just got the news that someone received theirs this morning at 9:25! Hope yours is on the way! 🙂

  12. Eric says:

Has ANYONE received their free $5 egift? What a scam this is, its not even mentioned anywhere on the Starbucks website. Why did I give them my Visa?

    • Annie says:

Just got the news that someone received theirs at 9:25am today! Yours should be on it’s way! 🙂

  13. Colsgirl says:

They are on their way – I just got a $5 Starbucks e-gift card in my inbox! Doing my happy dance 🙂

  14. Jeannie says:

Got mine this morning too. 🙂

  15. Amycanada77 says:

Woohoo got mine. Easy to add just to the app. Frapp her I come!

  16. CK says:

Nice promotion! – I got mine, too.

  17. Kate says:

Thanks very much! I got my free $5 of caffeine (or cookies…) this morning too!

    • Annie says:

You’re welcome 🙂 Great to hear. I hope your caffeine & cookies were amazing.

  18. Bex says:

Hi all, just wanted to let posters here know that it takes about a day to receive your $5 eGift link. I sent mine yesterday around noon and got the promo gift card this morning via email at 9:14am. Hopefully the 20,000 hasn’t run out yet!

I also think the “you don’t have to spend money” part refers to the fact you give $5 and get $5 back to spend for yourself, effectively netting 0.

    • Rod says:

It’s kinda sneaky for them not to say whether you will qualify when purchasing. no idea if I made the cutoff…was travelling and didn’t have my credit card with me. anyway..it’s just $5…and can use it 🙂
