Shoppers Drug Mart Spend Your Points Event Dec 1 & 2

After many rumours, myintuition has provided a picture redemption values on the flyer for next week and the top level is just $210 for 95,000 Shoppers Optimum Points.  Note that they are calling this a Spend Your Points event not the Super Redemption or Mega Redemption advertised in some beauty gala event invitations.  I am still holding out hope for a local flyer being higher, but at this point is does look like $210 has been confirmed.

I’m glad I didn’t spend more of my xmas dollars to get to the highest level now.

  2. Nicole says:

Ya, Im so glad I didn’t go too crazy!! I’ll still take $210 of free stuff though!!!

  3. mickpalace says:

Hummmmmm????? I was told usually around this time its 250.00 for the spend your points events… Guess Shoppers is upset with the Chocolate bar fiasco. Question? Do the points ever expire?

    • FallenPixels says:

mickpalace, the points can expire if you don’t use your card, but it is quite a long time

  4. Maddie2008 says:

sdm finds yet another way to disappoint 🙁

  5. Elaine says:

Wow, I guess I will just keep my points until next time. I feel bad for the people that had plans to buy Christmas gifts.
But I guess that is why we call it a rumour 🙁
Thanks for the heads up Fallen Pixels

  6. Kerri says:

Someone on another forum was saying cause the Mega redemption was leaked that they pulled the mega redemption a week ago because of the leak. I have a hard time beleiving this due to the fact that flyers are printed so far in advance…anyone agree???

    • FallenPixels says:

It leaked the last few years too and they didnt pull it, the rumour that they pulled it after losing money on the Huggies and chocolate promo is more likely

  7. Jason says:

well yes a rumour is a rumour thats why i dont beleive nothing till i see it . I am sure teh person that leaked it in the so called sdm chain prob feels like an a**

  8. mickpalace says:

Thank you Fallen Pixels… do you know how long it is before they expire???? Like if i don’t use them for Christmas will they be good for next Christmas?

  9. iamperfectforme says:

I am so glad this didn’t happen last year…I was so poor then…this would have crushed me.
Sorry to those that it will hurt:-(

    Tsk tsk SDM.

Not sure what this chocolate bar/huggies issue is…but I’m sure it has to do with a few people wrecking it for everyone else. BOO!

  10. Carrie H says:

Never got the chocolate bar deal – I was looking for 250 for food were saving up to go to Disney.

  11. mickpalace says:

Carrie are you going to disney during Christmas? We may meet you there!

  12. Debbie says:

Not surprised at all. SDM continues to disappoint. I’m giving my money elsewhere.

  13. FallenPixels says:

They will be fine as long as you use the card next year:
    21. Should any Shoppers Optimum Member not acquire Shoppers Optimum Points for 12 consecutive calendar months, the membership will be deemed to be inactive and all accumulated Shoppers Optimum Points will be forfeited. At that time the Shoppers Optimum Card Points balance may be reduced to zero at Shoppers Drug Mart’s sole discretion.

  14. Mike says:

I’ll take the $210…..don’t get the whiners on here. No one promised anyone $250. We have a few cards collecting points and we’re STILL waiting to be able to redeem anything (like HBC)….so no complaints for the Optimum over here

  15. Scubabare says:

Lame redemption! I will hold onto my points. $40 extra is not much more than the usual $200 for 95,000. Thus making it “lame redemption”

  16. Sherry says:

This sucks! It’s been $250 for years and we all work so hard for points! Should we save our points for a possible “mega redemption” in the summer? Ugh!!!!!

  17. Lisa says:

🙁 Have to admit I’m disappointed. I’d be tempted to hold on to my points that I used the 20x promotions to accumulate unti the next time but I’m starting to lose faith in SMD that there will be a next time. It seems things just keep going down wth them, first they change the point levels, now they change the redemption days. It’s not like I’m getting FREE points, I’m spending money to accumulate them and I’m sure there are few of us that are using all the bonus days and coupons and things. The money they’re making I feel is still sufficient to reqard us with a $250 points level.

  18. Avis says:

I agree with Mike…..no need to be upset, Shoppers doesn’t have to give points, The points alone are a bonus, to be offered extra at Christmas time is great. To be able to have $210.00 for free is still awesome. Do we ever think how much it costs Shoppers to do this?

  19. Ron says:

Wow people are so greedy! Shoppers doesn’t have to run their Optimum program. If it’s true, you’re still getting $210 for free people! Also, you can shop smartly, get deals as good as anywhere else and still accumulate points quickly. Just because Shoppers ran a $250 redemption last year doesn’t mean they have to this year. People need to be thankful that they are running this program at all.

I read the forum post for this and the source seems pretty suspect. Printed from an email that might be from head office but can’t verify? Could also be easily Photoshopped and printed. No matter, I’m still thankful for $210 of free stuff if it’s true.

    • FallenPixels says:

My local store had given me these amounts the night before and the flyer has since been posted so not suspect

  20. Ron says:

@FallenPixels – can you please provide the link to the flyer? I’ve been searching and haven’t been able to find it. All I’ve been able to find is the snippet posted.

  21. Ron says:

I found it, thank you. I’m sorry that I doubted the cropped picture but in this day and age, it’s too easy to manipulate a picture and the source was very doubtful.

Still, there are a lot of ungrateful people which is very sad to see. It’s $210 of stuff for free from a program that Shoppers doesn’t even have to offer! Why are people even complaining? Be grateful people!

  22. a says:

I cant believe people say that they “work” for points and then deserve 250$. There is no written rule that SDM has to give any bonus. In fact, that 210$ is FREE stuff. No one holds a gun to your head and says “shop at SDM or else”.
I have 2 redemptions at 210$ and I will GLADLY take my 420$ and buy a huge amount of goodies for my family. No where else do I get so many dollars back in 1 year (I had 1 x 250 and 1 x 60 last year). So in the past 2 years, I have received 720$ back in free stuff. THANKS SDM!!

  23. Marty says:

For all the people who say this is $210.00 worth of free stuff, its NOT! Shoppers prices are higher then all the other stores. So all those free points you have to work for you have paid for them already with their rediculously high prices.

  24. L says:

That’s unfair that people are complaining so much, It IS still a good deal and sure their prices are more expensive than most places, but not on ALL their stuff! They have the best points redemption deal out there. Remember it’s a drugstore, of course you’re not getting all your stuff for the same prices as walmart and such places, but it’s still super convenient. You have to pay attention to what you are shopping for, if you buy the right stuff it’s actually a super deal. They have 6 packs of bottled pop @ 2 for $5, T.P. for 5.99 on sale (their brand is just as good as royal and better than superstore/loblaws), Make up remover wipes $8 for 56 sheets (olay and garner brands cost $10-$12 for 20 something sheets), Paper towels 6 for $4.99 (or $1.99-$2.99 on sale other brands run up to $10) and if you buy those things during 20X events you are getting back way more than what you pay for at places like the ones mentioned above. They always have some of those things on sale during the 20X events. I have gotten max points every year some times twice a year spending less than $800, to max up my points. so getting back $210, from spending that much is a damn good deal. Where else would you shop and get back $420 worth of free stuff for spending $1600 on sale staple-house hold items? Sure it used to be better redemptions but now there are more people redeeming, would you rather they lose all their money and go out of business so you can have your extra $40 worth of stuff? shame on you

  25. Ang says:

I have two 95,000 points redemptions….can I redeem them both on the same day during the spend you points event?

  26. Supernovadramaqueen says:

i can tell theses comments are from canadians because of all the whining and complaining, otherwise known as canadas favorite pastime. “boo hoo! im only getting $210 worth of free stuff instead of $250, after all my hard work!”

  27. helen pothier says:

i enjoy shopping at shoppers will there be another points sale event later this month
