Skype is offering a great deal on PC-to-Phone calls:
Unlimited Calling gives you a full year of unlimited calls to anyone, on any phone, within the US and Canada for just USD $14.95 = $1.25/month
($29.95 after January 31st 2007
With the unlimited you get:
– 12 months of unlimited calls to any phone in the US and Canada – right from your computer.
– More than an hour of international calls.
– Over $50 in coupons to get a Motorola headset, Netgear WiFi phone, and a Polycom speakerphone.
Let me clarify a few points:
Skype is 100% free right now and until December 31st, 2006. You can use it to place calls from your computer to home and cell phones for free. To try it all you need to do is download Skype here.
This $14,95/year promo gives you unlimited calls to Canada and US if you are calling from Canada and US only. If you travel to Europe, for instance, you cannot place a free call from there.
Skype’s quality is good but there is some delay. Skype used to be awesome until they introduced the free calls in 2006. It looks like high demand caused a deterioration in quality. Now that people have to pay $14,95/year quality “may†improve again.
There is no catch. Yes, for $14.95 you can make unlimited calls from your computer to a home or cell phone in Canada or US.
Who is this promo for?
University students who contact their parents via the phone. Not everyone is Internet savvy. If your parents prefer talking to you on the phone (rather than msn), this Skype promo can save you some money (unless they have some sort of unlimited national calls package).
Calling your senior parents.
if you make a lot of non-critical national calls.
Who isn’t this promo for?
if your phone calls are important or business oriented Skype’s minor delay can become a major nuisance.
if you already have an unlimited calls within North America package like the one Cogeco currently offers with its digital phone.
if you don’t have a headset (or microphone and speakers) and don’t want to buy one.
if you hate talking through your computer or just find that it’s not worth the hassle.
