Not exactly a “Freebie” in the traditional sense but I’m personally more excited about this than I have been about any freebie!  NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission and The Planetary Society invite you to submit your name for a round-trip ride to asteroid Bennu. Your name will hitch a ride to the asteroid, spend 500 days there, and return in the Sample Return Capsule to Earth in 2023. Plus your name will be on the spacecraft, which will remain in space long after returning the sample return capsule to Earth.

I love sciences, space exploration and the different NASA projects and I think this idea is splendid! If you have kids, this may be a good way to get them interested in sciences, space programs, aeronautics and aerospace research 🙂

The “Messages to Bennu!” microchip will travel to the asteroid aboard the agency’s Origins-Spectral Interpretation Resource Identification Security Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) spacecraft. The robotic mission will spend more than two years at the 1,760-foot (500-meter)-wide asteroid. The spacecraft will collect a sample of Bennu’s surface and return it to Earth in a sample return capsule.
