Subway Canada Significantly Drops its Prices

Subway Canada Significantly Drops its Prices

Subway has always been one of my favourite fast food restaurants. I love the fresh delicious taste and healthy food (compared to McDonald’s and other Burger restaurants). The problem with Subway was the price! Their sandwich prices had been continuously going up over the past few years and paying around $10 for a foot long sandwich was a bit steep (remember it’s supposed to be fast food). However things are/have changed!

A couple of days ago I went to have Subway for lunch with a friend (Kingston Downtown if you’re interested in knowing). As usual I asked what their “Subway Deal of the Day” was. I was told that the Deal of the Day had been discontinued and instead all subs have a fixed price everyday of $2.99 for a 6 inch and $5.89 for a foot long! The menu still showed the old prices and there was no mention of the new prices so I’m guessing these changes have just been recently made. For $2.99 and $5.89 I think the sub prices are incredibly awesome! Why would anyone spend more on an unhealthy Big Mac or Whopper when you can buy a variety of Subway Subs for the same price!

I’m not sure if the new price reductions have taken place across the whole country so please ask before committing to a Subway lunch and blaming me for spending $10+ 😉

So in conclusion:

6″ Subway Canada Sub any kind: $2.99

Foot long (12″) Subway Canada Sub any kind: $5.89

Wow, great prices. I haven’t seen any price changes here in Newfoundland. I can’t see them reducing the prices of lobster subs(they cost about $15 for a footlong).

  2. Khristopher says:

It’s impossible that the rib sub and the coldcut is the same price! I don’t believe you until I see this with my own eyes.
Either way, Subway’s quality has gone WAY downhill in the past few years. Ingredients are cheaper tasting. THey are cheap with how much they put on. The subs look NOTHING like how they’re advertised, and the bread is flatter than sliced bread.
I’ve actually started going to Mr.Sub for subs, as they have much more taste I find.

  3. haluska says:

Thats weird because a 6′ veggie sub used to be 3.17 with tax and after New Years I went it was 3.35. I asked the girl, did you increase your prices, and she said yes!!

  4. Amy says:

I heard a commercial about Subway but can’t remember if it was tv or radio saying that the small subs are 2.99 because this is the 20th anniversary of Subway in Canada. I don’t know how long the deal is on for.

  5. Keven says:

This deal seems 2 good 2 B true. I agree with Khris, I can’t see all the subs being the same price….. and a lobster sub? wow, never heard of that. I stopped going to there cuz the prices were too high, so I made them at home. Now I am used to it, so I don’t think I can go back.

  6. Jan says:

It is true, Subway has lowered its prices — but it won’t last! They are celebrating their 20th anniversary and the subs will be these prices until the end of February — and yes, I did pay $2.99 for a BBQ rib sub! Enjoy while it lasts.

  7. Sally says:

Well we got subs last week and it was 14

We got the same thing last night and it was 11.

So we had just figured they screwed up haha, either way though we only eat there when the once a year coupons come out.

No sandwhich is worth 10 dollars to me.

  8. kiwi2121 says:

if its true that is great! its about time.

  9. Talee says:

Personally, I think Subway can’t stand up to the quality and taste of Quizno’s. For me to even consider going to Subway, the price would have to stay that cheap, and hopefully up the quality of their meat.

  10. Alex says:

Subway is ‘Rolling Back’ prices like some retailer we know?
What are they doing? Using cheese made in China? LOL

  11. Robin says:

They haven`t dropped their prices around here and they are still very expensive… I prefer Quiznos, they are giving out a lot of super deals and freebies right now.

  12. jennitilly says:

On Tuesdays, the subway near me (at Highland and Westmount, in Kitchener) used to offer a deal where you got a footlong sub for only $2.99 when you paid for a value size drink or bottled drink! They don’t do it for that price anymore, now it’s $3.99 but still an awesome deal! This is excluding the chicken or steak subs, but the subs with bacon still apply to the deal if I remember correctly. Pretty sweet deal if anyone is interested! Drinks are priced fairly too.

  13. JPDaigle says:

Well, I used to like Subway, but more and more find myself going to Quizno’s. The subs taste better, they don’t ask you a million questions when making them (hey, they should know better than me how to make it taste good, don’t ask ME what to put in it!).

Also, the Subway near my office had dozens of flies on the food one time, and I haven’t been back since:

  14. travelgeek says:

interesting…. the subway near my work actually *increased* their prices, $.50 to $1 hike for a footlong.

  15. Sally says:

yes Alex, its cheese made in china by 4 year olds.

    Hahah.

  16. Alex says:

Actually Sally they don’t have cheese available in China to the masses. They don’t have cows there. However the sauce may be from there. Would you like leaded or unleaded special sauce on your assorted? LOL

  17. amycanada77 says:

I went to the Subway here in Kitchener Waterloo Ontario and the only deal they had to offer was a footlong sub was $2.99 on Tuesday with the Purchase of a regular sized drink. Which is a pretty good deal – but the rest of the week footlongs are around $6-$10 here

  18. amycanada77 says:

oh and it was only certain subs for the 2.99 deal…nothing fancy

  19. Prue says:

Woohoo I’m glad to hear that Subway is lowering their prices, even if it is only temporary. I love Subway! 🙂 (not really a fan of Quiznos)

  20. royman19 says:

No, its a promotion for their 20th anniversary. The promotion goes on until early February, don’t know the exact date.

  21. mememe says:

    quiznos … ew

  22. amycanada77 says:

I’d like to know why I didn’t get this deal at the subway here in Kitchener?!?! And yes quiznos = ew … I still have a coupon for a free Quizno’s sub off a Corn Flakes cereal box… I’m sure I’ll use it eventually – just ’cause it’s free 😉

  23. Talee says:

Hmm, well just checked my local subway, no price change!

  24. bcteagirl says:

I will have to see if we have one here in town! The one time I visited Quizno’s, I was not impressed (Lack of variety in toppings, tasted off, etc). So Subway might be the way to go! 🙂

  25. Jackson says:

    Hi,

All this talk of Subway lowering its prices is crazy talk. One cannot compete with the taste, quality or pricing of Quiznos. What’s even better is that you can create your own Combo at Quiznos with your choice of a drink, soup, Chips or cookie for an additional $1.99. At Subway, they charge anywhere from 2.20- 2.80 to make a combo. I also found some decent coupons/ free offers for Quiznos by signing up at quiznos.ca/offers/ Check it out. Also, try their new SAMMIES. They’re amazing. I could eat them all the time.

  26. Young Freebie says:

The Subway down here raised it’s prices by $2, and refuses to serve me because I asked.

That’s fine and good. Back to Capt. Sub I go.

  27. skichik says:

I live in Hull, QC and I went in and asked if they had the deal you were talking about and they said no but they have free combos .. so you pay the same super expensive price for the sub and you get chips or cookies and drink free …and this is until Feb 11th for the 20th anniversary , after that date they will bring back the sub of the day

  28. mOE says:

No deal here. I don’t know where this rumour came from.

  29. Lisa Francisco says:

I’ve been finding lately that the bread really isn’t that fresh. It’s always crumbling and falling apart. I asked them each time i go and they keep saying yes it’s fresh. They must overbake it or something

  30. Lisa Francisco says:

Oh yeah and quiznos, i wasn’t impressed either. I ordered the steak philly at quiznos and i wasn’t given the opportunity to put other toppings on it like subway. soon as they put the meat on it, they closed it and gave it to me

  31. Kelly says:

Thats it I am going downtown Kingston (5 min. drive) this weekend to check it out. Great Deal……Thanks again Boo

  32. amycanada77 says:

Yeah Justine and Jennitilly – that’s the one that I go to (I live ottawa and fisherhallman – and they are opening one up on this corner soon) but the highland one doesn’t seem to have this “anniversery special” – I was just there a few nights ago – but I agree – the Tuesday deal is well worth it!

That’s really sad, I love the Traditional from Quizno’s but I moved to a place that doesn’t have one so it’s been years since I’ve had one 🙁

  15. Disappointed says:

I am a frequent customer of the Subway in Yaletown, Vancouver. My favorite is the 6″ tuna which was priced at $3.86. You can imagine my surprise and chagrine to be charged $4.92 today and advised that there was a price increase. Now that is a whopping price increase! I will be sourcing a new place to frequent for my lunch sandwiches.

  16. jack says:

I just want to say I love subway because fresh bread, no extra charge for cheese , choice for toasted , you can pick your veggi and ask for extra, also you can see it, choice for sauces & combo for $ 2.49 either cookie 2 or chip.

I just called one in Burnaby and they have $5.00 foot long for the Classics only. There is no more daily deals.

  19. mark bellmore says:

Subway is going downhill. $5 dollar subs are worth $2. They are so cheap on the toppings. The meat is terrible. I had a steak and cheese last week and paid almost $10 and less than three ounces of meat. They alway ask u if u want ur sub toasted first so they can give u the old bread. Yesterday i went to Mr Sub and was pleasantly surprised. Their steak and cheese had double the meat and the toppings were fresh and i understood the person making my sub.Subway has gone downhill so much that i will never go there again
